It is no small feat for an independent bookstore to stay in business during the times when even giant chains have caved in. It is a downright marvel when a brand-new bookstore emerges and proceeds to forge upstream against the general trend of brick-and-mortar decline. One such miracle occurred in the midst of the Downtown Arts District in 2011 when The Last Bookstore opened its doors, dazzling eager bibliophiles and inquisitive passers-by with its spacious, beautifully laid-out interior packed full of new and used editions of every genre. With its affordable prices, friendly staff and a massive, continuously changing collection, the bookstore quickly claimed for itself a permanent place among the most popular destination of Downtown LA.

tripadvisorWow. Just wow. Love to go around this place: to go through shelves of books to see and buy, to check the new or rare finds you can have, and check out the artists' corner.
MoreNothing stood out for me really but it was reasonably well attended for a Sunday morning in August so clearly this has an appeal to some.
MoreIt wouldn't quite be a visit to LA without checking out this place - they have books for all. You never quite know what you might find, always worth a look!
MoreThis bookstore is awesome. The building is beautiful and there are lots of fun photo ops. It’s a bit tough to find the sections and not a great place if you are looking for a specific book, but is a great place to explore and find some unexpected treasures.
MoreThe Last Bookstore is one of the largest used bookshops in downtown Los Angeles. I checked it out one weekday morning while wandering around the downtown area. They had a pretty good selection and the prices were fair, given that it is LA. I liked how they had multiple seats, benches, couches for people to sit and read. The atmosphere felt more like an old college library versus a bookstore, which was nice. I would for sure check it out again the next time I am in downtown LA.
