What a perfect Saturday afternoon at Hokah. The River Basin Blues Society hosted a fundraising blues festival featuring incredibly talented musicians and we were lucky enough to sit in. It was an amazing experience.

Heard great things about this place but when my food arrived it was cold and there was a cockroach on my meat!!! Asked to see the chef whose name was Cece and she actually accused us of putting it there ourselves. She shouted and was so rude. Disgusting attitude, avoid at all costs!

We stopped in for a drink and an appetizer, and we met Jessie. The Alabama Slammers were very good and the pulled pork nachos were perfect. Jessie came over and told us all about the bar and the drink menu (inspired by the 80's drinks like Alabama Slammers, Zombies, and Long Island Tea). We looked around as she was talking and pointing things out. It struck me that.....we are sitting here on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of COVID......BUT........when things get back to normal, this would be a really fun place to spend an evening listening to a band and having a few Alabama Slammers while Jessie works the room. Jessie is a natural at this.......and she has a really nice place here. We look forward to going back on our next visit to Evansville.

Cute outdoor eating area! Service was slower (8:45ish on a Sunday night) but the buffalo wings (tenders) were delicious. Pretzel bites and cheese were good too! Their old fashioned wasn’t great (cherries was smashed in it and it tasted like there was orange juice) but their Bahama Mama was pretty tasty. Prices were about average! Other patrons were being relatively loud and obnoxious but obviously that wasn’t the restaurants fault. The porch is dog friendly.

Seems this place has its ups and downs and depending on who works there at the time. Was there on Tue afternoon with a friend of mine to have dinner and drinks (food quality has improved from previous ownership). Problem with this place is they think they are in LA or NY! its dead inside but they will ask people walking in (like my wife at 7p & Her friend) on Tue to pay cover charge cuz a band will be playing at 8:30p!!! at what universe this is right? First of all the place was dead, second you would make more $$ if you leave it open and allow people to walk off the street to hear the band, 3ed if you want to charge cover charge it when band starts playing! You don't have Matchbox 20 playing!!! It will be a while for us to come back again now.
