tripadvisorCan't remember how we ended up choosing this place, but it was a mistake. If it hadn't been a short stay at the end of a long road trip when we were exhausted, we would have demanded another room or just left. Our room had an overpowering smell of water damage and mold, thankfully we could open the window to air things out. The wallpaper was stapled together (presumably because of previous water damage), part of the bathroom mirror frame was duct taped together, and it was nearly impossible to get cold water at the tap. The air conditioner blew straight into the side of one bed, and we had to inquire at the front desk to get the right number of towels. Front desk staff and kitchen staff was friendly and breakfast was the standard BW fare. Location is meh, but Korean grocery across the street and gas stations on corner are conveniently located for snacks and fill-ups.
MoreWe are here for medical reasons. Spent the first 2 nights in a “luxury” hotel because we needed everything to be smooth. Nope. Bad shower. Bad coffee. Poor follow through from front desk. Good old Best Western just aced it for us!!! Just what we needed. Good coffee. Good water. Good hot breakfast. Very helpful desk clerk even offered to help with our bags. Thank you for treating us better than the place that was double the price.
MoreIf you want to have the most uncomfortable stay, most difficult shower with mal functioning appliances, then choose this hotel at an expensive price. Had to stay here from Feb 28th thru March 10, due to renovation of my home. The only advantage is the location. Everything else is a drag. They provide non-working appliances in the room. Microwave did not work, fridge froze everything. Only on asking, they changed (Of course, they replaced with a new working fridge). The shower in the room is a pain to work with. Unclean and most uncomfortable shower head to use. If you do not navigate carefully in the shower, your head would hit the bumps in the wall, and you can get hurt. Breakfast selection is OK and they provide coffee (Keurig) machine in the room. If you are not desperate, find a better one.
MoreThis hotel is laid out like a motel - you can drive up to yur room. Which can be helpful with baggage carried only a few feet rather than a loger distance. It is also well located - manny restaurants within walking distance, and near the Lawrence Expressway. The shower know needs an extra strong pull in order to make it work.
MorePros: Friendly staff; clean, comfortable, ad quiet guest rooms; small property nonetheless has a pool and fitness center; reasonable rates.Cons: Meh area; lousy wi-fi in rooms.Truth be told, this hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, and the overwhelming smell of curry while walking to my room didn't set a positive tone (not that I have an issue with the smell of curry, but strong odors in general aren't pleasant). Fortunately, my room smelled fine. In fact, it was a lovely place to spend time- nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The only negative was a weak wi-fi signal that made downloading files while working something of a challenge. It's likely the result of the property being older (maybe with thick walls) that made sure I didn't hear anything outside- even on a night when the front desk employee told me the hotel was completely full. There is a free breakfast offered, but I opted to walk to a nearby Denny's both mornings of my stay. There is nothing inherently wrong with the area, it's just kind of blah with a few fast food restaurants and a basic grocery store within walking distance. And because of heavy traffic on the main road, walking was preferable to driving to nearby businesses. The property also has a very small pool and fitness center- I didn't spend time at either one, but at least they're offered. As I get older and less tolerant of nuisances and disturbances, properties like this one that are staffed by friendly, accommodating people interested in providing an above average experience are increasingly valuable- and the experience was indeed above average. I won't think twice about staying here again next time I'm in the area.
