tripadvisorPart of the enormous green spaces around the hills of the East Bay, this place brings great recreation to the good folks of the suburbs, and elsewhere! Lots to do here. Come and enjoy the nature.
MoreVery nice place to walk and enjoy nature, anytime of year. Great views of the Hayward Hills. Sometimes you can deer, rabbits, various birds, etc. There is a pool there also but was closed for season when I went. Saw people fishing down there and also riding horses. Closer to Castro Valley than to downtown Hayward. Not as many people walking as at Lake Chabot, so fairly quiet spot. Saw dogs down there even though it says no dogs, I believe.
MoreWe went to Don Castro Regional Recreation Area, which is in Hayward. We were happy to find this park. There is a water area for fishing. Its also scenic. There are places to picnic. Its a good place to enjoy nature and also to take a walk.
MoreVisit date: 04/21/19 My family went to Don Castro for a hike. There was no parking fee due to Easter Sunday. The parking lot was half full and it's not that crowded. The man made swimming area is dry, close to the public. We hiked the Ridge Top trail. The hike is really easy and only took us about 45 minutes around the loop. Along the way we saw people fishing for trout and carp. There are a lot of shaded area. We plan to go back again for fishing and picnic.
MoreOur church had a baptism here a few time over the years and it is very beautiful. Plenty of parking and nice swimming area.
