I've been going to Gainesville for over 25 years, and figured I knew all the good restaurants. My family and I were headed up for a football game, college town, and made a reservation for dinner at another restaurant. Upon arrival we discovered we had looked at the lunch menu and dinner was white tablecloth and candle level fancy...not exactly what we wanted that night. They recommended Loosies. Walking in you get the college town dive bar vibe, and the smell of bar rag is unmistakable. There was a band scheduled to go on a few hours later so they were already preparing the dance floor by moving all the tables off it; however, they were very nice and prepared us a table for 6. We ordered a variety of food from chicken wings, mac and cheese, burgers and salads and every single item was great. My wife was so excited about it that she also bought us all Loosies' t-shirts to remember the night, it doesn't hurt that the shirts are hilarious. Definitely looking forward to a future visit.

I wanted to put in a rave review for Loosies, as I have heard wonderful things about the restaurant. However, from the take-out experience a few days ago, I would not return. The two stars: for the fast completion of the take out order and for the one order that was good (fish and chips). My food was under and overcooked and unappetizing. I had to throw half of it away as it was inedible. The french fries were not cooked through, the veggie burger was thin, flat, tasteless, and charred black, and no mayo was included as requested. A disappointment.

Me and my friends were waiting on a show to start at The High Dive and were told by the staff there that we should check out Loosies. When we arrived the place was getting slammed! It was a Sunday night and I guess they hadn't accounted for the concert crowd. We were crunched for time and were hoping for a quick bite to eat before the show but it was not to be. Fortunately for us they had $2.50 microbrews on tap which beat out the concert prices handily. The beer was fresh and despite the crowd the bartender was all smiles and gave great service. We stopped back in after the show and finished our night there talking with the staff and few patrons that remained. The great smells wafting from the kitchen, the staff, and definitely the beer prices will guarantee that I'll be back to get the full experience.
