Being someone that frequently sees theater performances in Philadelphia, EgoPo is a whole new and refreshing experience. The directing and staging of these shows are fantastic, creative, and innovative. Each show is different and refreshing, which is usually hard to do with plays that are classics but EgoPo repeatedly succeeds. The small space (The Latvian) in which these plays are performed adds to the enjoyment of the performances due to the intimate nature it gives to the performances, that is so important in the creation of theater. The selection of plays are important and thought provoking in the way they are packaged and presented in the season. I will definitely continue to visit.

EgoPo’s productions are intimate, tangible, and relatable. Through innovative staging and powerful direction, they do an excellent job of bringing new life to classic pieces of theatre. I always look forward to seeing their take on well-known plays. It’s also great to be introduced to some of the more obscure projects that they take on! I believe that they offer some of the most interesting, thought-provoking theatre in the city. I am sure their upcoming season will be no exception.

I am new to the Philadelphia area and have been slowly exploring the local theater scene. EgoPo was recommended by a friend who had enjoyed a performance several years ago but I had no idea I would be so blown away. Their innovative use of play space to create captivating stage pictures is unparalleled. The visionary direction of the piece really speaks to the professionalism of the company and their dedication to producing truly astonishing theater. I will definitely be returning soon and I cannot recommend them enough.

EgoPo is another classic theatre company putting on performances at the Latvian Society (right across the street from the Edgar Allan Poe house). It's a terrific community space including a cozy quirky full service bar on the 1rst floor. The theatre is located on an upper level, there is no elevator, but the last time I was in the space a chair glide lift was available. Productions are focused on the classics of literature and theatre, this year the season is dedicated to John Guare and last season was a re-imagining of Russian dramas. You can expect thought provoking, nontraditional staging, excellent production values and high octane performances.

I've seen quite a few of EgoPo's productions and have never been disappointed. The shows are always of the highest quality and, unlike a decent amount of classic theater, are transformed in a way that make them fresh and tangible for a modern audience. I know when I go to see a play there that I will be in for a visually stunning performance, one that is simultaneously entertaining and intensely thought-provoking.
