From the very first call, I knew I was in good hands with International Van Lines Movers. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to understand my moving needs. On moving day, the crew arrived right on time — professional uniforms, positive attitudes, and ready to get to work. They handled my furniture and fragile items with incredible care, wrapping everything securely and loading the truck with precision. Not once did I have to worry about scratches, damage, or delays. The movers were so organized, efficient, and kind — it honestly felt like a team of friends helping me move rather than a company I just hired. What really impressed me was how seamless the entire process was from start to finish. The communication from their Coral Springs office was excellent — I always knew what to expect and when. Delivery was on time, everything arrived safely, and the final cost was exactly what they quoted me (no hidden fees or surprises!). I’ve used other moving companies before, but International Van Lines Movers truly stands out. Their professionalism, honesty, and attention to detail made this move the smoothest one I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for trustworthy, reliable movers who genuinely care about your belongings, I 100% recommend them.

Why they stand out

International Van Lines can take on your local, long-distance and international moving needs and offers respectable pricing. If shipment tracking is important to you, the company offers GPS on its fleet of trucks. If it can't service your area with its trucks and background-checked crews, be aware that it may broker your move to a third-party company. If that's a deal-breaker, look elsewhere.

Pros

  • GPS shipment tracking
  • Background-checked crews
  • Offers virtual estimates
  • Local, long-distance and international moves
  • Vehicle shipping

Cons

  • May broker your move to third-party movers
  • Low Yelp ratings

Claiming to handle 20,000 moves a year, International Van Lines has deep expertise in national moves and international moves, shipping to more than 140 countries worldwide. Whether you need help moving two hours down the road or 3,000 miles, it’s committed to making your move stress-free, helping it earn a spot on our list of the best national movers . With GPS tracking of your possessions built right into the company’s digital infrastructure, the company also aims to be one of the more transparent national moving companies you can pick.

“Moving is, they say, one of the top three most stressful things that somebody will experience in a lifetime,” Josh Morales, President of International Van Lines, told Yahoo Local. “So with that, what can we do to make this as stress-free as we possibly can?” To achieve that, it uses a quote structure that largely guarantees your moving rate, and employs certified, background-checked movers to handle your goods.

While it has positive reviews overall, its negative reviews are worth noting. It also has a significant number of Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints , even while it maintains an A+ rating with the organization. That’s not uncommon for national moving companies, given the volume of moves they handle each year, but it can help shape your decision on which mover is right for you. Here’s what you need to know about why International Van Lines might be a good pick for your move, and why it might not.

Why International Van Lines may be right for you

Founded in 2000, International Van Lines has developed great expertise in complex moving jobs, from international moves to Department of Defense (DOD) transportation work. The company is also dedicated to the causes it champions.

Digital tools are part of the deal

We awarded International Van Lines the title of the Best National Mover with GPS. That’s because the company uses software to ensure that you’re able to track your goods cross-country. This helps you pinpoint when your possessions will arrive and ensure they’re still in motion while you wait for them to arrive at your new home. But digital infrastructure doesn’t stop with tracking.

“We have a GPS tracking system for real-time tracking, where our customers can log in,” Morales told us. “We also created a software called Move One. We built that during COVID because we were having a hard time doing in-home surveys because of all of the policies… We text a link to clients, and they can basically walk around and upload a list of the items that they’re moving, and that’s done with A.I.”

If you’d rather get an online quote vs an in-person estimate , then the company’s digital process is appealing. Its prices are based on a combination of weight and cubic feet. However, as it breaks down on its website , the type of move you choose and other factors can drastically affect the final price. For example, if the company’s truck can’t deliver to your home, it will charge an extra fee to rent a smaller truck.

Once you’ve received a quote, International Van Lines will ask for a 35% fee to reserve your moving date. On pickup day, 50% of the balance will be due, with the final 50% due upon delivery. The company accepts a wide range of payments, including checks, Zelle, PayPal, cashier’s checks, money orders and cash. You can generally expect a ballpark cost of $6,000 for a 500-mile move; however, many factors can affect your move, and prices vary.

It has expertise in complex moves

International Van Lines is FIDI-certified as an international carrier, a process that involves a rigorous audit. FIDI is an organization that accredits businesses for conducting overseas moves . The credit recognizes the company as a reputable international carrier.

In addition to international certifications, the company also works with the government. “We do a lot of government and DOD moves as well,” says Morales, “so we’re a certified military moving company.”

Whether you’re moving to Asia, Europe or elsewhere, International Van Lines can facilitate it, coordinating with international shipping companies to ensure your possessions are ready to meet you in your new home.  For international moves or state-to-state, this expertise in complex moving proves that the company is up to the logistical challenges.

When you book your move, you’ll be assigned a personal relocation coordinator, who will be your point person throughout the process and will communicate with you via phone calls and email. On pickup day, expect three to five movers. The company background-checks all its staff and mandates quarterly training.

It offers a wide range of services

International Van Lines doesn’t just move regular household goods. The company also relocates larger items like vehicles and boats. It has a variety of options available for each, including international shipping, flatbed shipping and more.

Storage solutions and packing services are also part of the business. The team can be booked to pack your home for you and put your items in storage while you’re between locations.

The company champions its values

International Van Lines commits to giving 5% of its profits to ForKids , a foster non-profit, and the company’s president, Morales, is a foster parent himself. Beyond donations, the company sponsors toy drives and other types of events to help children.

International Van Lines also provides free moves to women in distress. “You can hear it on the phone,” Morales says, describing how International Van Lines helps women who may be navigating difficult domestic situations,  “We have to come in ninja-style and set pickups and pickup dates so that she doesn’t get caught.” While the team does research and vets claims, if they determine that a woman is in serious danger, the company will move her free of charge, even when the sticker price for the move would usually run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

Beyond charity, International Van Lines is minority-owned and committed to diversity. According to its website , 60% of the company’s employees are women, and minorities fill positions throughout all tiers of the company. Additionally, International Van Lines provides cultural sensitivity training to its employees. This program is in place to ensure that the company’s movers treat everyone with respect.

Why you may want to consider another mover

International Van Lines has many positive attributes. However, its number of negative reviews are worth considering. In some ways, the company is more ‘by-the-book’ than some of its competitors, but you may experience delays and its brokering policy isn’t clear.

Its ratings and complaints may give pause

While International Van Lines has mostly positive scores across the web, the scores are very uneven from one site to the next. For instance, its scores on Google average out to a positive 4.5 stars (1,805 reviews), and its ratings on Yelp are quite poor at 1.6 stars (628 reviews). A glance at the negative reviews on Google surfaces many of the same problems cited in the Yelp reviews. However, it’s also worth considering that the Google rating is based on nearly 1,200 more reviews than the Yelp rating.

Additionally, while the company has an excellent A+ rating with the BBB, it still has 137 registered complaints , many of which remain open. This is by no means uncommon among national moving companies and carriers. However, we encourage potential customers to consider these complaints and negative reviews carefully.

Its brokering policies are confusing

Morales told us that when you hire International Van Lines, “you don't have to worry about your move being brokered out to another company.” This is positive, because, while there’s nothing inherently wrong about brokering moves , the process can lead to miscommunications, non-standard charges and breaches of company practice. In short, when a move is brokered, you don’t necessarily know who you’re dealing with.

Because of the complex logistics of international moves, outsourcing labor is part of the deal with moves abroad, which require collaborations with shipping companies and foreign agent companies. On its about page , International Van Lines mentions that it does have a broker authority baked into its business for these moves.

That said, we saw a number of reviews in which customers mentioned that domestic pickup was brokered to a third party, implying that third-party brokerage is used domestically. A one-star Google review from Kati S. says:

[International Van Lines] did not disclose that they were outsourcing our move until Friday afternoon before Monday morning pack out. The crew from Genuine Relocation arrived in a rental truck from Enterprise, unaware that this was a full-service pack-out. They had to go to Home Depot to buy supplies. They told us we had more cubic feet than in the Binding Estimate, resulting in a 30% higher moving cost. There was a total lack of communication regarding the delivery date and Genuine Relocation tried to extort money for "special delivery.”

Delays can be an issue

Delays are a common complaint with any national carrier, but when we spoke to Morales, he admitted that delays are one of International Van Lines’ customers’ most common complaints. While most moves take between three and 17 days, we saw reviews that cite contracts stipulating 21 business days as the maximum moving window provided by the company, with delivery sometimes taking much longer.

“Delays happen typically on smaller moves. And this is an area I’m figuring out now,” Morales says. “We’re actually restructuring logistics based around small moves.”

When you’re picking between national movers, there’s no perfect method for ensuring that your goods won’t be delayed. This is nearly always a risk, but we saw this complaint more than once.

There’s a lot to like about International Van Lines. The company honed its expertise in long-distance moves by working internationally. It recognizes that many homeowners want a degree of supervision over where their precious possessions are. It uses GPS tracking to deliver this, while other digital tools streamline communications, including the quote process.

“When customers are moving, they want to get a quote,” Morales says. “They don’t want to sit around and wait for someone to come out to their house.” The company’s digital tools help simplify this.

That said, the company may outsource jobs to third-party movers that can have different policies and practices. The lack of clarity around their brokerage policies is confusing and worth keeping in mind. Additionally, delays seem to be a real issue.

Still, the company’s reviews generally trend quite positive. Its A+ BBB score, military contracts, and other certifications further validate it. We’re also impressed by the company’s commitment to charity and community work. While you should carefully weigh some of the negative reviews, we think that International Van Lines is largely a strong choice for a national mover.
