Top Louisville plumbers
The best plumbing company in Louisville for YOU
While we stand behind every plumbing company included on our list, there's no single option that's the right fit for everyone. The best plumber for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. For instance, if you require emergency help, prioritize companies that offer 24/7 service and can respond right away. If you're looking for a particular service, such as water line replacement or water heater maintenance, it's best to focus on plumbers who specialize in that type of work. It's also important to keep in mind that many plumbing companies charge a diagnostic fee, which can make requesting multiple estimates expensive. That's why it's crucial to choose a plumber who can address your exact needs from the start.
Daniel Brown Plumbing is our top pick for the best plumber in Louisville. The typical price to unclog a shower drain is around $250, but if the clog isn't too bad, they'll lower their price to $150. There aren't any other fees to worry about, and a plumber could come out and see to your issue as early as the same day. However, if you require emergency services outside of standard business hours, you're better off calling any of the other plumbers on this list, as they offer plumbing services 24/7.

As a locally owned and operated company, Daniel Brown Plumbing offers residential and commercial plumbing services to the greater Louisville area. Their main areas of work are in piping, drain cleaning and water heater services. But they can also help you out with your sump pump or washing machine.
We called the business asking how much they'd charge us to come out and unclog a typical household shower drain. When we called the main phone number, we spoke with Rick, a company representative, who was professional and quick to answer our questions. He told us the company usually charges around $250 for this kind of job, but if the clog isn't that bad and there aren't any other issues, it's possible to get it done for $150.

Same-day service is available, or you can schedule a job as early as the next morning. The typical arrival window is a two to three-hour timeframe. You'll receive a phone call when your plumber is on their way over.

Since plumbing companies can't control what you choose to put down your drain after they leave your property, most companies don't offer a warranty or workmanship guarantee for clogs. Daniel Brown Plumbing is no different, sort of . We were told that if the drain clogs back up within three days, someone will come out and unclog it again, free of charge. However, if it backs up again after a week's time or so, you're out of luck.
All the plumbers on staff are full-time employees who are licensed and background-checked before starting work. Daniel Brown Plumbing is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and no complaints filed. It has a 4.9-star rating on Google (462 reviews) and a 4.8-star rating on Yelp (45 reviews).
The company is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is closed on the weekends.

ASI Plumbing is the top alternative Louisville plumbing company

The ASI Plumbing team outside for a group picture
Founded in 2002, ASI Plumbing has been assisting Louisville homeowners with piping, clogs and appliance-related services for more than 20 years. What we found particularly helpful was the instant estimator tool located on the company's website. The AI tool was able to give us straightforward pricing and answer all of our questions within a few minutes. However, for the sake of getting the full customer experience, we also decided to give the business a call.
During our call, we spoke with Cora, a sales representative, who was friendly and quick to get us set up with a company estimator. The estimator we spoke with quoted us $268 to unclog our shower drain. You won't have to pay any diagnostic fees, and pricing is charged a very predictable flat rate. The estimator promised us a "no nonsense" service, promising to get the job done right and skip the annoying upselling that some plumbing companies are known to do. No hidden fees and no extras — just in and out service.
You can have a plumber scheduled to pay you a visit the same day you called or schedule service for a different day. The company also offers 24/7 emergency plumbing services if you ever find yourself with an issue after business hours that just can't wait. There's a three-hour arrival window for when your plumber will arrive. You'll also receive a text or phone call when they are on their way.
Services offered
-
Pipe repairs
-
Drain and sewer services
-
Water heater repair and replacement
-
Gas piping
-
Sump pump services
The company offers a 30-day workmanship guarantee for clogged drains, which is nice considering many plumbing companies don't make any promises when it comes to drains. All of ASI's plumbers are full-time members of staff who have been drug-screened and background-checked.
ASI Plumbing is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating and no filed complaints. It has a 4.9-star rating on Google (2,286 reviews) and a 3.8-star rating on Yelp (38 reviews). The company's office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and is closed on weekends.

Daniel Nolan was prompt and explained everything. He laid down a doormat, wore shoe covers, used drop cloths, and cleaned up the work area. He made the repairs instead of trying to make a high sale. Would highly recommend!!

ASI Plumbing makes it easy to get a quick quote using its online estimator tool, or you can call in to speak with a representative. There aren't any service or diagnostic fees to worry about. Tom Drexler Plumbing is the best value plumbing company in Louisville

Aerial view of one of the Tom Drexler Plumbing offices
Founded in 1981, Tom Drexler Plumbing has been serving the Louisville and Southern Indiana areas for a solid 45 years. They have three locations within Kentucky and can assist with plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. But we opted to call in for a simple clogged shower drain. When we called, we had a great experience speaking with Emerald, a dispatcher with the company, who was kind and helpful in answering our questions.
Pricing details are easily discussed over the phone, and there aren't any service or diagnostic fees to pay in advance. They quoted us $99 to come out and unclog the drain — a much cheaper price point than other plumbers in the area.
We weren't able to get a same-day appointment, but if you have you're having an emergency that just can't wait, they do have a 24/7 emergency service that can squeeze you in. For those with non-emergency issues, you can get an appointment scheduled for as early as the next morning. The arrival window depends on the job and time of day. However, you should receive a phone call from your plumber 30 minutes in advance.
Services offered
-
Residential and commercial plumbing
-
Piping
-
Drain and sewer services
-
Water heater repair and replacement
-

Aside from great pricing, you'll also get a 30-day workmanship guarantee to make sure your clog stays away. Considering many plumbing companies don't bother with guarantees on drain cleaning jobs, this is a nice touch. All plumbers at Tom Drexler are full-time employees who have been background-checked. The company doesn't work with contractors.
Tom Drexler Plumbing is a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating , but it does have quite a few complaints filed against it (68, to be exact). While this is a large amount of negative customer feedback, this is relatively normal for larger companies with several locations that have been in business for a decent length of time. However, we also want to point out that other large plumbing companies we've looked at have a pretty clean track record, so it's worth considering.
It might put your mind at ease to know that the company has great reviews on Google, with a 4.8-star rating (20,219 reviews). Its Yelp reviews are a different story, though. The company has a 1.8-star rating on the platform (226 reviews).
Business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sundays.

Tom Drexler's Drain Clear Special is the only game in town! The other plumber I called had previously given me the lowest price in town on a water heater, but just to make the service call for my clogged bathroom sink, they wanted $350. Tom Drexler was $99. I asked them whether there would be an extra $80 service charge, like the appliance repair folks charge. Nope! $99 Dollar! No Holler! I had already used 2 bottles of drain cleaner, and I was tired of washing my hands in the kitchen, so I made the appointment. The technician, Colin, was prompt, polite, and courteous. With his trusty electric auger, Colin cleared my drain in 10 minutes. That drain now flows like Niagara Falls! My only recommendation for anybody planning to call for an auger is: Buy a clear drip cloth for the technician to place over the sink/auger while he/she clears the drain. That auger, like a dirty electric eel, may sprinkle your bathroom and make clean-up harder. But, Tom Drexler is the best choice to clear your drain without pain!
Why they stand out
Tom Drexler Plumbing has been serving the Louisville area for more than 40 years. They offer free estimates with no service or diagnostic fee required. You'll also get a 30-day workmanship guarantee after your drain is unclogged. Same-day services are typically reserved for emergencies.
Pros
- Flat-rate pricing
- No diagnostic fees
- 24/7 plumbing services
- 30-day guarantee
Cons
- Office closed on Sundays
- No same-day service (for non-emergencies)
- Poor Yelp reviews
Dauenhauer Plumbing is the best Louisville plumbing company for service variety

A Dauenhauer Plumbing member of staff in front of a company van
Dauenhauer has been in the plumbing space for more than 60 years, serving Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown and Shelbyville. You can hire them for help with a variety of services like plumbing, HVAC, electrical, remodeling and work on gas lines. We called to ask how much they'd charge us to unclog a shower drain.
When calling in to the Louisville location, there's a good chance that you'll end up speaking with the company's AI bot versus an actual human. We called three different times and were unable to get a human on the line. The good news is that the AI does a decent job at answering questions and can help you get an appointment scheduled.
The bot was unable to get us any sort of pricing information. However, we were told that the service is charged at a flat rate. In order to get a proper estimate, a plumber will need to visit your home and physically diagnose the issue, which costs $99. This fee is non-refundable should you decide not to go through with the service offered.
If you're having an emergency, it's possible to get same-day service. Those with non-emergency issues can get an appointment scheduled for the next day or later. Arrival windows depend on the time of day your appointment is scheduled. For morning appointments, your plumber will arrive between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Afternoons are between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Services offered
-
Residential and commercial plumbing
-
HVAC services
-
Electrical services
-

-

The company doesn't offer any sort of warranty or workmanship guarantee for clogs. All its plumbers are full-time employees who have been drug-screened and background-checked prior to starting.
Dauenhauer Plumbing is a BBB-accredited with an A+ rating and 34 complaints. Again, this is pretty typical for larger companies. It has a 4.8-star rating on Google (8,462 reviews) and a 2.5-star rating on Yelp (108 reviews). The company is open 24/7.

Kentucky plumbing FAQs
How do I know if my water heater needs repairs or a full replacement?
You'll definitely know if there's something wrong with your water heater . Strange banging and screeching sounds, as well as discolored water are signs that something isn't quite right. If you're not getting any hot water at all, it might be best to just go ahead and replace the entire appliance.
How long does a water heater typically last in Kentucky?
The average water heater is made to last between eight and 12 years, according to Lowe's . However, this rule isn't set in stone. It will vary depending on factors like your geographical location, water quality in the area, the design of the appliance and wether or not you've been keeping up a maintenance schedule.
What are the most common issues people call plumbers to fix?
Clogged drains and leaks are among the most frequent plumbing problems homeowners encounter . That said, plumbers are also regularly called out to handle issues related to water heaters, water pressure and overflowing toilets.
How can I tell if I can fix a plumbing issue myself or if I should call a professional?
Only you can decide whether you have the skills or experience needed to handle a specific plumbing problem. Simple issues like clogged drains are often easy to fix on your own . But if drain cleaners or a drain snake don't solve the problem, it's probably time to call a professional. The same goes for a running toilet. Basic fixes like replacing the flapper or chain can often be done yourself . If you're not especially handy, or you're unsure how to proceed, there's nothing wrong with bringing in a plumber to take care of it properly.
Is it better to go with a smaller plumbing company or a larger one?
No single type of plumbing company is automatically better than another. Smaller businesses often provide more personalized service and may come at a lower cost. Larger companies, meanwhile, are usually more established, offering greater availability, a wider range of services, and sometimes stronger warranties. Regardless of which route you choose, it's wise to contact several companies and compare multiple estimates before making your final decision.
Do plumbing companies in Louisville need to be licensed?
Yes, all plumbers in Louisville need to obtain a state plumbing license before starting any sort of commercial or contract work. Licensing is overseen by Kentucky's Department of Housing, Building and Construction .
Do all reputable plumbers do background checks?
Not all plumbing companies perform background checks on their employees or contractors. That said, those who do are often considered more reputable. In many cases, properly licensed plumbers may have already completed a background check as part of the state licensing process.
Do plumbers usually charge by the hour or flat rate?
Pricing often depends on the plumber and sometimes on the nature of the job itself. While many plumbers prefer flat-rate pricing, others bill by the hour and add the cost of materials. Smaller, straightforward tasks such as clearing clogged drains or fixing a running toilet are more commonly priced as a one-time flat fee. More extensive projects that take longer to complete, like sewer line repairs or major pipe replacements, are often charged on an hourly basis.
Should plumbers provide written estimates before beginning a job?
A trustworthy plumbing company should be willing to give you a written estimate that clearly outlines the costs and scope of the job. This helps ensure both parties have the same expectations before any work starts. If a plumber refuses to provide a clear quote, whether over the phone or in person, it's generally a warning sign.
Do plumbers usually offer warranties?
Yes, it's common for plumbers to offer a warranty or workmanship guarantee on their services, but coverage doesn't apply to every type of job. For example, drain cleaning or clog removal is often excluded, since plumbers can't control what goes into your pipes after they've finished the work. Projects that involve supplying materials—such as replacing fixtures or pipes—are much more likely to include a warranty.
