The Texas Department of Transportation s Lubbock District plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state s transit system. The district serves Bailey, Castro, Cochran, Crosby, Dawson, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lynn, Parmer, Swisher, Terry and Yoakum counties in Texas. It provides vehicle registration services and renews certificates and drivers licenses through various offices. The Lubbock District offers a variety of information about statewide road conditions. The Texas Department of Transportation, also known as TxDOT, employs more than 13,000 staff members. The department operates a construction division that is responsible for the inspection and testing of development projects. In addition, it governs a public transportation division that provides financial, technical and coordination assistance.
