Grand Rapids hosts tech events, student fairs and hands-on demos
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Starting Monday, visitors to downtown Grand Rapids can attend classes and workshops through Tech Week Grand Rapids teaching enthusiasts about technological breakthroughs in the field.
"We have seen excellent momentum and growth year over year," Andria Romkema, senior vice president of business development at The Right Place, the event organizer of Tech Week Grand Rapids, said. "When we started Tech Week, we had about seven events."

Since its start four years ago, thousands of attendees have visited Grand Rapids each year to explore Tech Week workshops centered around artificial intelligence, online privacy and career strategies.

"It's called 'Tech Week,' but there's really something for everyone," Romkema said. "We have events on digital literacy, HR in tech, marketing in tech — it's really become a part of all of our roles."
One returning program is the Student Tech Showcase at the Grandville Robotics and Engineering Center .
"This year, we have over 2,000 sixth to eighth graders who are coming together for the showcase," Romkema said. "That is going to be a day of hands-on tech demos."

To wrap up Tech Week, attendees and panelists are encouraged to visit Confluence Festival at the Kendall College of Art and Design , a two-day event that celebrates the intersection of art and science.
"(Confluence Festival) is a great way to cap the end of tech week," Romkema said. "It's at KCAD in downtown Grand Rapids."
