Microsoft 365 Copilot Adds New AI Agents, OpenAI's Viral 'Studio Ghibli' Image Generator
Microsoft has announced the Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 Spring release. The company says it's a big update to the Copilot experience that will help collaboration between humans and AI agents. Specifically, it's gaining new abilities that change how users interact with Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The chat interface has been redesigned to help users easily find and use tools, access content created on the platform, revisit old conversations, and use the skills of their favorite agents directly from chat. Microsoft is also adding "Researcher" and "Analyst" agents powered by OpenAI's new reasoning models. These will soon be available to Microsoft 365 Copilot users through the Frontier program, as reported by Windows Central.

Another update is the new Agent Store, where users can look for agents and pin their preferred tools to their interface for quick access. OpenAI's image generator, ChatGPT-4o, is also being added—yes, the same one that made many Ghibli images all over the internet.
Copilot Notebook will soon turn notes and data into actions and insights, including charts that highlight important details and stay updated if new information is added. Notebooks can also create an audio overview of the content, with two hosts summarizing the key points.
For administrators, the Copilot Control System is to have new controls to enable, disable, or block agents for specific users or groups, supporting better security and management.
