Pro-Ject Just Made Its Entry-Level Turntable Even Better for New Vinyl Listeners
The revered Austrian hi-fi brand just introduced two new configurations of its E1.2 turntable.

Last year, Pro-Ject introduced the E1.2, a new entry-level turntable designed to deliver audiophile-grade sound at an accessible price. The company said it was designed with the same ethos as its first-ever turntable, the Pro-Ject 1, released in 1991.
Priced at $399, the Pro-Ject E1.2 is a fully manual, belt-drive turntable with no modern features. It has no built-in phono stage; it needs to be paired with an external phono preamp or an integrated amplifier with one. It also lacks Bluetooth streaming or USB connectivity.
Basically, the E1.2 is a turntable designed for budget-conscious audiophiles who want to build a traditional vinyl hi-fi system without any shortcuts.

However, as spotted by What Hi-Fi? , Pro-Ject has now introduced the E1.2 in two new configurations: the E1.2 BT and the E1.2 Phono.
The Pro-Ject E1.2 BT adds a Bluetooth transmitter (with support aptX HD and aptX Adaptive), allowing it to stream vinyl to wireless speakers or headphones. While the E1.2 Phono adds a switchable phono preamplifier, so you can hook the turntable directly to a set of powered speakers.

Everything else about these new configurations is the same as Pro-Ject's standard E1.2 turntable. They share the same heavy die-cast aluminum platter, the same 8.6-inch aluminum tonearm and the same Pick It MM E phono cartridge.
It's worth noting that this isn't exactly new for the brand, as Pro-Ject offers Bluetooth and Phono configurations for many of its turntables. But it's now giving the same treatment to its most entry-level range.

Pro-Ject will offer both the E1.2 BT and the E1.2 Phono in three standard finishes: black, white and wood. However, the Bluetooth variant will also be available in several additional satin hand-painted finishes, including yellow and dark blue.

Price and availability
US pricing and availability information has yet to be released. However, you can expect Pro-Ject's E1.2 BT and the E1.2 Phono to be slightly more expensive than the standard E1.2, which goes for $399.
