Tonies Just Dropped Toniebox Lite Which is $70 Cheaper and Young Kids Won’t Know the Difference

With parents seeking more screen-free kid entertainment, audio boxes are booming. They let kids enjoy stories and games strictly by listening, and they're made to be easy for kids to operate and take along anywhere. Now there's a new, affordable option available for preorder at Walmart: Toniebox Lite .
Toniebox Lite is especially great for kids under 5—and their parents
I recently reviewed the Toniebox vs the YOTO and the truth is I like both, though I believe the Toniebox 2 can be better for the youngest kids. And the Toniebox Lite? It's also great for the littles, yet more affordable and more portable. Some highlights:
✔️The Lite saves you money. A Toniebox 2 Starter Set is over $100, though it comes in a cute color like red, pink, or teal. A Toniebox Lite–smaller, grayish white—is $80, about $70 cheaper.You can buy a colorful cover for an additional $20.
✔️Both target young kids. Toniebox 2 offers a My First Farm Bundle for toddlers. The Lite comes in two possible starter sets: One is a Sleepy Set with a duck that plays music and sound, like a sleep machine; the other is a My Story Set with one preloaded story and 90 minutes of space for parents to record stories or messages. Everything, the big box and the little box, are age-graded for 1+.
✔️The Lite is lighter. But you probably guessed that! The Lite is smaller and more portable, roughly half the size and a fraction of the weight of the Toniebox 2. You can easily take it in your diaper bag and use it for naptime or entertainment the go.
Almost everything that works with Toniebox also works with Toniebox Lite
All the Tonies figures work atop the big box or the small one. And there are so many, from young-kid favorites like Ms. Rachel to bigger kid faves like Poppy from Trolls . There are even new Bluey Tonies .
Both boxes come with a charging cable and a brick. Both work with the Tonies app, and need to be initially set up plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi. Every time you introduce a new Tonies figure, you'll need a box to be on Wi-Fi, but once a figure is introduced (aka downloaded), it will work off of Wi-Fi as well.
How to decide which model is best for you
The original is colorful, soft, and smooshy—very appealing to kids. The Lite needs an additional cover for color, and it's not quite as toy-like. It's a little bit more like a speaker, though it has the little ear controls that work just like the original to raise and lower volume.
The Toniebox 2 is also a bigger "Stage" for your child's Tonies figures, and that is fun. Then there are some capability differences:
✔️The bigger box has more storage. Toniebox Lite features 8 GB of storage, while the Toniebox 2 offers 32GB of storage.
✔️ For Tonieplay games, you need the bigger box. The Lite version does not work with the new Tonieplay line, which requires a controller top and is for ages 3+.
✔️Toniebox 2 has a fuller-range speaker compared to the Toniebox Lite. Most kids aren't deep audiophiles, but if speaker soundmatters a lot to you, Toneibox 2 is better. Both are able to be used with wired and Bluetooth headphones. And kids enjoy both!
