Yamaha bolsters its streaming arsenal with a feature-laden streaming amplifier and network music player

Yamaha has expanded its streaming-capable hi-fi lineup with the unveiling of two new products: the WXA-70A streaming amplifier and the WXC-70A network music streamer.
Both fresh-faced additions aim to build on the legacy of the 10-year-old WXA- & WXC-50 , with Yamaha promising a potent blend of compact streaming convenience and engineering which delivers "a level of musical satisfaction that approaches full-size hi-fi components".
The WXA-70A streaming amp boasts 70 watts of Class D amplification per channel into 8 ohms. At the heart of both new models is an ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC working in tandem with Yamaha's high-precision internal processing and stable output architecture, designed to offer "expressive bass" alongside a natural, energetic tone.
Both products employ high-precision internal digital signal processing and clock-rebuilding 'ASRC' technology, designed to help maintain "clarity, timing accuracy and spatial precision". Yamaha's proprietary 'YPAO' room calibration tech, meanwhile, seeks to optimise playback depending on your given listening environment.

The WXA-70A and WXC-70A are well-equipped with connections, offering optical, line-level and auxiliary inputs, as well as HDMI eARC for integration within a TV or home cinema set-up. For boosting your bass, a dedicated subwoofer output is provided on both, with the WXC-70A streamer also offering optical and coaxial outputs.
On the streaming side, both are powered by Yamaha's 'MusicCast' streaming platform and app, granting support for AirPlay 2 , Google Cast, Spotify , Qobuz and Tidal Connect , as well as multi-room audio and Roon Ready certification.
The larger WXA-70A and more compact WXC-70A are housed in a rigid aluminium enclosure that promises to be a vibration-resistant structure, which further helps to give each model a "cleaner and more expressive sound".
The Yamaha WXA-70A streaming amp is priced at £1199 / $1300 / AU$1999, while the WXC-70A streamer will set you back £859 / $1000 / AU$1599 with both models set to be available from November.
