The Fujifilm Instax Mini was easily my most-used high school graduation gift once I got to college. In fact, I call this camera a college essential and recommend it to all my younger cousins entering college. Admittedly, it's a bit pricey; but right now, students (or generous parents) can snag this instant camera at a discount right now while it's on sale for Amazon Prime Day (happening now through June 26).

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 is an instant camera that immediately prints out small photos with self-developing "instant film." After printing, it just takes a few minutes for the image to fully develop, so it's a fun camera to have on hand to take photos with your friends.

Just keep in mind that you'll have to buy the Fujifilm instant film separately from the camera. Two packs of film (or 20 photos) are about $40, so it's not the cheapest purchase. But I rarely, if ever, see the camera or film packs on sale, so this 15% off deal is worth snagging.

Seven years later (wow, I'm getting old!), I still love my tiny vintage-inspired camera, and I'm so grateful that I have printed film photos of my friends and me throughout our college years. My friends were always excited to take photos together with my Fujifilm Instax Mini Camera during pre-games before parties (I mean, during study sessions…), and now I have a photo album filled with printed vintage-looking pictures of my favorite college memories.

I wasn't the only student with a Fujifilm Instax Mini camera, either. I've gone to other students' dorms who took photos of every guest that came over, and they pinned all the photos to their wall, which was a fun touch to their dorm decor.

Olivia Lipski , a senior reviews writer and analyst in the Good Housekeeping Institute, has reviewed hundreds of products and cameras. She also thinks the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 is a wedding-season must-have . "In the age of smartphones, being able to actually print out a photo and share it amongst friends is personally what I love most about it," Lipski said. Our editors also regularly recommend the camera in our gift guides for tweens through adults.

Overall, this camera is easy and enjoyable to use. Just insert AA batteries and film, and you're ready to start snapping pictures. It's always a star at any of my parties, and the compact size makes it easy to fit in a medium-sized purse.
