Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2026 Camera Expert Picks - PCMag/Amazon

Did you hear? Amazon is having a big sale this week, Prime Big Deal Days . It's a great chance to get a jump on your holiday shopping, or simply to treat yourself to a new piece of tech. I've reviewed cameras at PCMag for more than fifteen years and put a strong emphasis on value for the dollar when trying out the latest gear. I've already found some good deals on cameras, lenses, and accessories during this year's autumn sales event, but there's one that stands out for beginners: the Canon EOS RP is available at $799 as a body only, and a $1,049 in a bundle with the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM zoom lens.

You can still shop and save during Big Deal Days, but if you want to score the best deals, you need to sign up for Prime . The good news is that you can grab a free 30-day trial during the sales event.

Full-Frame Photography at a Price You Can Afford

The Canon EOS RP is one of my perennial favorite recommendations for photographic novices who are interested in landscape, portrait, architectural, and other types of slice-of-life photography, as well as students taking a photo class. It's one of the lowest-priced cameras with a full-frame sensor, a format that's ideal for taking portraits with the background blur you're used to seeing in professional portraits. It normally sells for $1,449 when bought with the excellent RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM starter lens, but is marked down to match its lowest price in years, $1,099. That's less than what some cameras with smaller APS-C image sensors cost, and while the RP's 5fps autofocus system and limited video features will compel sports and wildlife photographers and vloggers to take a pass, it's an incredible option for portraits, family snapshots, and vacation photos.

You can also get the EOS RP as a body only for $799 (down from the regular $1,149 price) and pair it with a wide aperture lens like the RF 50mm F1.8 STM (on sale for $199) for even more background blurring power, with a fixed angle of view that's close to the 2x setting on a smartphone camera. And if the RP doesn't tickle your fancy, you can check out other great Prime Big Deal Days bargains here a PCMag.
