As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft's Windows 10 has reached the end of its usable life, prompting an outpouring of tributes from tech-heads devastated over the operating system's retirement.
This marks the end of an era for the operating system, which has been powering millions of desktops since its release to th e public on July 29, 2015.
"Windows 10 has reached the end of support on October 14, 2025," Microsoft declared on its site while announcing the end of the OS' life . "At this point, technical assistance, feature updates and security updates is no longer provided."

They added, "If you have devices running Windows 10, we recommend upgrading them to Windows 11– a more modern, secure, and highly efficient computing experience."
While many Microsoft users had a love-hate relationship over the OS, die-hard Windows' shoppers were bittersweet over them pulling the plug, and sent out slightly tongue-in-cheek farewells.
"RIP Windows 10 (2015–2025)," quipped one nostalgic fan in jest. "You brought us Start menu chaos, those sneaky updates at 2 a.m., and the occasional blue screen therapy session. Thanks for the memories!"
"So long, Windows 10. Thanks for being an ok-ish operating system," said another.
A third posted a photo of previously retired operating systems welcoming the newly defunct OS as it ascended into the clouds.

Meanwhile, one fan posted a TikTok video in which they dubbed the Windows' closing the "end of an era."
Others stood in solidarity with the deceased OS with many vowing to never upgrade to Windows 11.

"I speak for everyone when I say this, WE WILL NOT BE SWITCHING TO WINDOWS 11," pledged one stoic fan.
"Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop using windows 10 lmao," said another in a heartfelt o-bit-uary. "It's just the end of support for its security. I think I'll be fine lmfao. i will use windows 10 until it either forces me off or until i die."
Meanwhile, the experts at Engadget pointed out that Windows 10 will "continue to work, but you won't see any more software and security update."
