Comcast says upgrades delivering faster internet in Middlesex County
Major network upgrades that deliver faster internet speeds through existing connections in homes and businesses are now available to local Comcast customers.
The upgrades, available to Middlesex County and Northern New Jersey residents and business customers, are part of a broader investment of more than $900 million to the Comcast network and infrastructure over the past three years.
The upgrades were announced Nov. 6 at the Woodbridge Xfinity Store on St. Georges Avenue during which the company also presented a $10,000 donation to the Woodbridge Community Charity Fund, which provides warm winter coats to local school children. Mayor John McCormac participated in the coat presentation.
The upgrades offer download speeds up to 2.1 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) and upload speeds up to 300 megabits-per-second (Mbps).

Comcast also is expanding its network in Edison and investing another $2 million in the town to reach Raritan Center and another 500 businesses.
Comcast maintains more than 48,000 miles of fiber-rich network infrastructure throughout the state which powers hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses and tens of thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots backed by Comcast converged network.

"Our customers benefit from more than just enhanced speeds – we're offering a more secure and reliable connection than ever that also supports a truly differentiated wireless experience through Xfinity Mobile."
Comcast is constantly upgrading and leveraging AI throughout its network as part of the company's broader strategy to make it smarter and faster.
Earlier this year, Comcast began deploying ultra-low lag technology that further enhances the responsiveness of its network to deliver popular applications like streaming and gaming. The company also launched Wi-Fi PowerBoost, which can deliver up to gig speeds to Xfinity Mobile customers' smartphones at home with the latest Xfinity gateways, and on the go when they connect to millions of hotspots, regardless of their home Internet speed.
