This EcoFlow Power Station Could 'Overheat and Ignite' Without a Firmware Update

EcoFlow has announced a recall of its Delta Max 2000 power stations, due to a problem that caused some units to "overheat and ignite." You don't have to return or mail the power station, though—you just need to install a firmware update.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of the EcoFlow Delta Max 2000, pictured above and below. That's one of EcoFlow's larger power stations, with "EcoFlow Max" printed on the right side, and "EFD310" and "EcoFlow DELTA Max (2000)" printed on the underside. The EcoFlow app can also tell you which model you have, if the labels are no longer visible.

"EcoFlow Technology has received six reports of the recalled Power Stations catching fire, with property damage totaling over $850,000," the recall notice explained. The CPC says approximately 25,030 units were sold in the United States, through Cosco, Amazon, and EcoFlow's online store.

If you have one of the affected power stations, the good news is that you don't have to dispose of it or mail it anywhere for a fix. You just need to follow EcoFlow's instructions for installing the EcoFlow app (if you don't have it already), connecting to the battery, and installing the available firmware update through the settings screen. After the update is complete, you can continue using your battery as normal. If the firmware upgrade fails for some reason, contact EcoFlow for help .

You should avoid charging or discharging the power station until you install the firmware update.If you have multiple Delta Max 2000 units, you have to update the firmware on each unit. EcoFlow didn't go into details about the problem's cause, or how it could be fixed through software. It could have been a temperature control issue, or something else. We also don't know when the issues were first reported—the affected units were sold between July 2022 and May 2025.

Recalls are never great, but they are more or less inevitable with mass production, especially when it comes to batteries. In the last year, the CPC has also announced recalls for Anker Soundcore speakers , MagSafe batteries from Quad Lock , and Anker power banks , all of which could overheat and pose a fire hazard.

Again, if you have an affected Delta Max 2000 battery, you just need to install the firmware update. No return or mailing process is necessary, unless the update cannot be installed through the app, in which case EcoFlow will help you set up a return.
