Microsoft recently updated Windows 11 24H2 as part of its Patch Tuesday. This update stands out because the company quickly addressed issues that arose after the release.

The update rolled out yesterday and contained a number of critical fixes, but was soon followed by a warning from Microsoft about a compatibility issue. The company said that a limited set of devices might experience problems and that the update's rollout was being slowed down as a result, as reported by The Register.

Microsoft told users affected by the issue that they would receive a revised update with all the June 2025 security improvements soon. Microsoft has not given more details, but it's been said that it could be related to different CPU architectures. Some of the users also reported errors during installation. Microsoft slowing down the rollout of a critical security update is not common and could also mean the company is being cautious in the face of possible larger problems.

Microsoft acted quickly to fix the problem, which is great, but it also raises questions about how these issues can still get past testing before release. For users who want to install the update, it is still available for manual download from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
