Nvidia has had to claw back a driver it released for its RTX graphics cards after it was found to cause a number of strange bugs for RTX 50 owners.

As VideoCardz reports , the Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL driver, which was released just a few days ago, is no longer available. "We have discovered a bug in the Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL drivers and have removed the downloads temporarily while our team investigates," Nvidia said in a statement . "For users that have already installed this driver and are experiencing issues with fan control, please roll back to 591.86 WHQL."

Nvidia app users can roll back to the previous release from the three-dot menu in the Drivers tab.

Problems with this new driver started cropping up shortly after it dropped. Some users found their GPU fans ignored custom fan curves or didn't show up in monitoring software. Others said their GPU fans stopped responding altogether. A few speculated it was due to MSI Afterburner profiles conflicting with Nvidia's drivers, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Other users have reported lower boost clocks , with the driver seemingly interfering with GPU voltages. This is particularly apparent on high-end cards like the RTX 5080 and 5090 , with performance noticeably falling in some cases.

Others still have experienced stability issues, including black screens, driver crashes, freezes, and hard restarts. There are also reports of HDR signal loss when gaming on Samsung TVs, sleep-resume issues on Samsung monitors, and a number of specific game issues seemingly tied to Unreal Engine 5.

The "Game Ready" driver was supposed to update Nvidia GPUs to be ready to play Resident Evil Requiem , as well as integrate DLSS 4 support with multi-frame generation and DLSS ray reconstruction. It also added similar support for Marathon and came alongside big video promotions for the performance enhancements made possible by the DLSS 4 integration.

For now, none of that is possible. Nvidia is working on a fix, but hasn't released any information about when we can expect it to be available. If you downloaded and installed this new driver, proceed with caution (and check your fan curves to make sure they're working). If you do run into issues, rolling back to the previous driver is likely the best course of action for now.
