Hurry, You Have Only a Few Hours Left to Save Hundreds on Microsoft’s Awesome Surface Laptop 7

It's like a MacBook Air but with Windows.

I test and review dozens upon dozens of laptops every year, and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 is my favorite Windows laptop . I like it for its thin yet rigid all-metal design that's about as close as you can get to a MacBook Air in a Windows laptop. Other than a lack of an OLED display and potential Windows-on-Arm compatibility issues, my only complaint about the Surface Laptop 7 is its price -- the model I tested costs $2,000. That's a steep price for a laptop that doesn't deliver a high-powered, dedicated GPU. But for Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day sale , its price is slashed to $1,350, where it becomes a much better deal.

Why I like the Surface Laptop 7

It won an Editors' Choice award because it's a well-rounded, well-built ultraportable with unbeatable battery life. Based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite CPU, the Surface Laptop 7 is one of the longest-lasting laptops I've ever tested. It ran for nearly 20 hours on CNET's battery test -- that's hours longer than you get with the MacBook Air.

Performance is strong, too. Along with the Snapdragon X Elite chip, my test model supplies an ample 32GB of RAM and a spacious 1TB solid-state drive. Its 13.8-inch display is slightly larger than the MacBook Air's 13.6-inch panel and also offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, which is double the 60Hz you get with the Air. ( Apple's 120Hz ProMotion display remains exclusive to the pricier MacBook Pro.)

Look at that huge touchpad.

I also loved the massive haptic touchpad, which offers a consistent and customizable click response across its entire surface.

With the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7, Apple's MacBook Air finally has some competition from the Windows side of the aisle. The Surface Laptop 7 has the build and looks to compete with the Air, and not only closed the battery-life gap that the Air enjoyed over its Windows competition, but actually surpassed it.

Don't miss this Surface Laptop 7 sale

At its full price of $2,000, I feel like the Surface Laptop 7 should offer an OLED display. But at its sale price of $1,350, I feel better about getting an IPS LCD panel. And for an IPS display, it's a pretty good one. It has a crisp, 2,304x1,536-pixel resolution and is impressively bright with HDR support.
