Time's Almost Up To Catch HP's Huge Back-To-School Deals
Back-to-school season is wrapping up, with class already in session in many states. Some sales are still holding on, though, and HP has a few offers on highly-rated laptops and desktops that you can snag before the weekend. We found nice prices on laptops up to 17.3 inches, gaming machines, Chromebooks, and more, and we'll continue updating until the sale ends.

HP OmniBook X Flip
Let's start our dive into HP's back-to-school deals with a $500 discount on the lightweight and flexible OmniBook Flip, which we gave a glowing review to. High points of this two-in-one laptop include a premium 2K OLED display that's sharp, colorful, and bright, perfect for long nights writing essays or streaming videos, as well as a solid component loadout including a full terabyte of internal storage and a peppy Ryzen 7 processor. We also liked the inclusion of a magnetic stylus for the touchscreen, making note-taking and sketching more accurate and intuitive. Build quality is good, and it's lightweight enough to use in tablet mode comfortably. We did wish battery life was a bit longer, but it's still competitive.
HP Omnibook 7
If your student needs a lot of real estate to do their work, a big screen laptop is the play, and HP has an absolutely massive discount on the absolutely massive OmniBook 7. With a 17.3-inch 1080p screen, multitasking is a breeze, video looks amazing, and it's easy to collaborate with classmates. This is a solid midrange portable with a good component loadout, including 16GB of RAM for smooth performance on all the major educational apps. The Core Ultra 5 is a capable pick for a CPU as well, with an integrated Intel Arc 130V GPU boosting visual performance and Copilot AI tasks. Other strong points include good port selection and MIL-STD 810H durability ratings.
HP OmniBook 5
For something a little bit smaller that still has a lot of appeal, HP has a whopping 52% price cut on the OmniBook 5, a 16-inch laptop with a sharp 2K display and great selection of components (with the exception of the somewhat paltry 256GB internal SSD, but you should really just be using cloud backups anyway). In our review of the 14-inch version of the OmniBook 5, we gave it an "Excellent" rating and an Editors' Choice award, with praise going to its lightweight and ultra-thin design, sturdy-feeling build, and high-quality OLED screen. The Ryzen AI 7 processor is fast and power-efficient, giving you exceptional battery life. We tested it at 34 hours and 48 minutes on a single charge in the labs, which is outrageous.
HP Chromebook 14
Looking for the absolute best value-for-money option in a portable PC? Chromebooks are where it's at. Google's Chrome OS squeezes tons of performance out of last-generation components, with a user-friendly UI that's also hardened against viruses and other intrusions. This HP model has been on the market for a while (we first reviewed it in 2019 ), and it hasn't changed much. For just over $250, you get a 14-inch 2K non-touch display, good-sized and responsive keyboard, and hours upon hours of battery life. While the chipset isn't spectacular, with a paltry 4GB of RAM and just 64GB of storage, there are plenty of ports for expansion and it'll handle most online schoolwork.
HP ZBook 8 GLi
On the other side of the price spectrum, HP's laptop workstations are potent powerhouses built to last a lifetime, and this is a tremendous discount on the ZBook 8. We reviewed a similar model a few years back, noting that it felt great to use, with a capable processor and fast SSD, and the spacious keyboard was comfortable and responsive. 32GB of RAM makes it a killer machine for creative tasks, live recording, or just keeping a zillion tabs open. Security is a big value-add with the ZBook 8, which ships with HP's Wolf Pro security package that maintains a virtual machine to quarantine malware effectively. A dedicated laptop GPU is another excellent value add, although this isn't necessarily the PC you'd pick for gaming.

HP OmniDesk
If the student you're shopping for is moving into a dorm or other independent living situation for the first time, a desktop PC is a great gift. Not only can they use it as a home base for all their schoolwork, but it can also serve as the core of a shared entertainment system to stream Netflix and more. We're fans of HP's revitalized OmniDesk line, which features a retro-look woodgrain front panel in a surprisingly compact form factor. Inside the case, you'll find solid components for everyday use, including a peppy Core Ultra 5 processor. Cooling is quiet and efficient, and there is plenty of room for expansion. Gaming desktops are also seeing back-to-school discounts, and this big, beautiful beast will be the star of any dorm room it lands in. This is a powerhouse PC that will dominate heavy research computation just as well as it handles all of today's popular games, with a whopping 32GB of RAM and a cutting-edge RTX 5070 graphics card. The robust and versatile cooling system keeps it quiet under even the most demanding loads. The Ryzen7 9700X processor is one of the most value-conscopus gaming CPUs on the market, and it tackles productivity tasks with ease. Connectivity is also exceptional, with Wi-Fi 6E and a ton of ports on both the top and rear of the case. Is it expensive? Yes, but your kiddo is worth it, right?

Buying a gaming laptop for back-to-school might seem a little silly, but the better display and higher horsepower make this one a surprisingly good choice for STEM students who use their portable PCs to process lots of data, examine experiments, et cetera. Of course, they can also use it to play today's top titles with solid graphics thanks to the RTX 5060 graphics card. The 2K screen is bright, colorful, and responsive, and the keyboard and touchpad both feel good to use.
