Assassin's Creed Shadows Gets Whole New Island In Claws Of Awaji DLC

Assassin's Creed Shadows just got its first major DLC post-launch, and it opens up the story, gives players access to a new weapon, access to an entirely new island, and sees Yasuke and Naoe fighting side-by-side for the first time in missions.

Many fans were left unsatisfied with the base game's ending as there are a lot of loose threads left hanging after the credits roll. This is revealed to be done by design as Ubisoft decided to leave the conclusion for the DLC, and we finally have the continuation of the story with the Claws of Awaji expansion, which now explores a more direct conflict between the Kakushiba Ikki, the Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins, and the Japanese Templars, fighting via proxy through some members of the Sanzoku Ippa. Ubisoft estimates an additional 10 hours worth of content for the DLC expansion pack.

In Claws of Awaji, Naoe and Yasuke travel to the Island of Awaji beyond Osaka Bay in pursuit of a long-lost treasure and in search of a mysterious shinobi. Their investigation sees them in conflict with the leader of the Sanzoku Ippa, Yukari, who has her own grand ambitions for the Island.

The biggest addition to Shadows through the DLC, in terms of size, is the large Island of Awaji. While the island looks massive, the place is also full of hills and mountains, so exploring the island can be exciting and would take people a while to really get into each nook and cranny of this new location. However, it's not possible to explore Awaji peacefully, as Yasuke and Naoe are both branded as enemies and should expect constant pressure from the Sanzoku Ippa, as groups of shinobi show up every now and then to try to kill you.

In terms of gameplay features, Claws of Awaji introduces a brand-new weapon, the Bo Staff, and a brand-new skill tree for the new weapon for Naoe. The Bo Staff adds a lot of depth into the gameplay. Naoe can take three stances: High, Normal, and Low, each with their own pros and cons, with High prioritizing damage, Normal keeping a distance, and Low tripping opponents and making them vulnerable.

Assassin's Creed Shadows' Claws of Awaji DLC is included as part of the Season Pass and pre-order bonus, but you can also purchase the DLC separately for $24.99 .
