Boom! Super Bomberman Collection Shadowdrops Today

Hey, remember Bomberman? Even when Konami all but stopped making video games, they still released Super Bomberman R back in 2017. They quit Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid, but Bomberman kept on truckin'. Bomberman is one of the most beloved video game mascots of all time. He never reached the acclaim of Mario or Sonic, but he's still here, and still starring in games.

The original Bomberman released in 1983, but some would say the series really took off with the release of Super Bomberman in 1993, which allowed up to four players to play together for glorious local multiplayer mayhem. The game was a huge success and spawned a number of sequels of its own.

Whether you have fond memories of Super Bomberman or want to see what all the fuss was about, now's your chance. In a surprise announcement, Konami revealed and released Super Bomberman Collection. Yeah, it's out now!

Super Bomberman Collection features seven classic games. It contains all five Super Bomberman games released on Super Nintendo , as well as Bomberman and Bomberman 2 from the Famicom (NES) era. Basically, if you want to become a Bomberman scholar, this collection will get you there, and you'll have a ton of fun along the way. If you can get a group of four together, you can have countless hours of excitement playing these classic Super Bomberman games.

I'm a casual Bomberman fan, but I wouldn't say I'm a scholar. For my money, the best game in the series is Bomberman Ultra for PlayStation 3, which is crazy for supporting up to seven players locally. I have fond memories of playing that game with a bunch of pals. Pure chaos! I don't think we ever rocked a full seven-player game (do I even have that many friends?), but it also supported online play back in the day. Yeah, did you know the PS3 supported up to seven players on one system? Good times. Remember Hamster Ball? That game was nuts!

Anyway, Super Bomberman Collection is out now on Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.
