Every Game Announced At PlayStation's September 3 State of Play

PlayStation's September 3 double broadcast delivered more than two hours of trailers, release dates, and reveals across a main State of Play and a dedicated State of Play Japan episode. The headline moment was an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation , but Square Enix also used the show to drop a free Final Fantasy Resonance demo. Here's everything announced across both broadcasts.
Final Fantasy Resonance Demo Out Now, Sephiroth Confirmed
Square Enix used the show to release a free Final Fantasy Resonance demo across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC, covering the entire first chapter of the HD-2D game. Save data carries over to the full release when it launches October 22. The accompanying trailer also confirmed Sephiroth will appear as a findable, challengeable boss in the game, alongside previously revealed cameos like Cloud.
Final Fantasy Resonance is built on the concept of pushing pixel art to its limits, rendering cinematics through a 3DCG-to-pixel production process while keeping turn-based combat at its core. The game is based on the first story arc of mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius , reworked into what Square Enix describes as a fuller console RPG rather than a straight port.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Closes the Show With Extended Gameplay
As promised, the main broadcast closed with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation , the third and final chapter of the FF7 Remake trilogy . The segment ran down each party member's unique skills, showed off piloting the Highwind airship for exploration and skydiving, and detailed the FITS class system alongside chocobo combat.
Wutai's capital city got its own spotlight, including a side activity built around photographing the city's cats, while Rocket Town and Gongaga also appeared with fast travel now available between previously visited locations.
New quality-of-life features were shown too, including a cutscene fast-forward option and a side-mission mechanic where control shifts to a specific party member, changing how the mission plays out based on their perspective.
The segment followed an earlier trailer at gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live . Final Fantasy VII Revelation now has an April 8, 2027 release date.
