Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets April 8 Release Date, Extended Gameplay Look

Final Fantasy VII Revelation now has a release date. Square Enix confirmed the third and final chapter of the FF7 Remake trilogy launches April 8, 2027, closing out PlayStation's September 3 State of Play with an extended gameplay segment covering exploration, combat, and several returning locations.
What the Extended Gameplay Segment Showed
The segment ran down each party member's unique skills before diving into exploration, including piloting the Highwind airship both to fly across the world and skydive down to new landmasses. The airship also serves as an interior home base, giving players a hub to return to between story beats. Combat got its own spotlight too, with a look at chocobo-assisted battles and the game's FITS system handling class roles for the party.
Wutai's capital city received an extended look, including a side activity built around photographing the city's many cats. Rocket Town and Gongaga were also shown, with fast travel now available between previously visited locations, a quality-of-life addition aimed at cutting down on backtracking across the game's large world.
New Features and What Comes Next
Two new mechanics stood out beyond the location tour: a cutscene fast-forward option for players who want to move through story beats more quickly, and a side-mission system where control shifts to a specific party member, changing how that mission plays out based on their unique perspective. Neither feature was detailed extensively, though both point toward more player-facing customization than the previous two entries offered.
This extended look followed an earlier trailer at gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live , meaning today's showing offered the deepest gameplay detail on the finale so far. With April 8, 2027 now locked in, Square Enix has roughly seven months to fill in the remaining gaps, including a more detailed look at the game's story and any characters not yet fully shown.
