Fortnite Treasure Hunters is the theme of the new season, and within that, the usual in-game loot chests have changed slightly. Whenever you open a chest, there is a chance that, instead of the normal loot pool, you'll roll a Treasure Hunt prize.

These prizes can vary greatly, with things like skins, weapons, and much more on offer, but the big prize is the Pirate Token, which has a very small chance to drop from in-game chests, though at the time of publication, we can confirm that the first one has already been found. We don't know the exact odds right now, but at least one is guaranteed to be in the prize pool every week.

On top of that, if you're in a squad and someone on your team opens a chest and gets the Pirate Token, all squad memberswill get it too.

During the redemption periods, currently listed as Nov 1 – Dec 16 and Jan 1 – Dec 16, 2027, you can cash in your Pirate Token to access the Pirate Shop.

Put simply, the Pirate Shop is the regular Fortnite item shop, except every item in it is free. Yes, completely free, letting you claim anything in it you want. All skins, emotes, cosmetics, kicks, and so on: you can just click on them, claim them, and add them to your account, and yes, you keep the items forever.

Once claimed, this will last for 14 days before the shop reverts to normal and you'll need to start paying for stuff again. There are a few exceptions, namely: Real-money offers (rather than things that cost V-Bucks), Gifts, Battle Pass levels, or Sidekicks you already own, but aside from that, everything is completely free for the taking.
