What GTA VI’s $20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade Actually Buys You

Grand Theft Auto 6's price almost feels irrelevant. With projections showing that 29% of console and PC gamers in the U.S. plan to buy the game, it seems that no matter the cost, people were going to buy in.

$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition seem fair, considering the hype. I'm all for businesses putting prices on their products that match the demand or desire.

It would be silly to suggest, or even think, that Rockstar should sell its game for less than it's actually worth. To be totally honest, Rockstar probably could have sold the game for more than $99.99, and it wouldn't have hurt sales very much.

If you're a major Grand Theft Auto fan and you're really looking forward to diving headfirst into this new experience, which you probably are, you've either been waiting more than a decade or you've been swept up in all the hype.

Both editions include one month of GTA+. Boxed copies of either edition hold a download code rather than a disc.

Every pre-order, on either edition, adds the Vintage Vice City Pack. It includes a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, an Ocean Beach garage, vintage outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and weapon patterns inspired by Tommy Vercetti.

Neither edition unlocks the game early. Both release Nov. 19 for everyone.

Rockstar also sells The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection for $399.99 through the Rockstar Store. It is merchandise only, and the game is sold separately .

If this were some other game with a less proven track record, I could understand consumers being a little cautious. But a $99.99 buy-in for Grand Theft Auto 6 doesn't seem unreasonable.
