Madden 27 Update Brings Gameplay and Franchise Fixes
With the official start of the NFL regular season just around the corner, EA Sports is heating things up in Madden NFL 27 with another title update.
EA confirmed through Madden NFL Direct that the latest update is targeted to arrive on September 3, with gameplay receiving most of the attention.
Blocking, defensive adjustments, wide receiver awareness and block shedding are among the areas being addressed, while Franchise Mode players are also getting an important fix.
The update may not completely overhaul Madden 27, but several of the changes could have a noticeable impact on how the game plays.

Madden 27 Gameplay Changes
Blocking is one of the biggest areas EA is targeting. Offensive tackles should make better decisions against certain defensive alignments, while zone-blocking assignments and targeting are also being improved.
EA highlighted the following key gameplay fixes coming with the update:

Aggressive Blocking Coach Adjustments will now result in more realistic holding penalties.

Offensive tackles are now more effective at targeting and blocking defenders on contain assignments.

Offensive tackles will now correctly identify and block linebackers in wide alignments.

Wide receiver awareness has been improved to prevent unnecessary jump catches.

Flipping a defensive play will now correctly realign all defenders as expected.

Defensive adjustments made before the play will now be correctly maintained during a hurry-up offense.

Higher-rated defenders will now have a greater chance of shedding blocks against lower-rated opponents.

Blocking assignments and targeting have been improved for zone-blocking plays.
The ratings-based block shedding change could be particularly important. Better defensive players should now have an increased advantage when matched against lower-rated blockers, potentially making individual ratings more meaningful in the trenches.
Aggressive Blocking is another adjustment worth watching. Players using the Coach Adjustment will have to account for a more realistic risk of holding penalties, which could make leaving the setting enabled throughout a game more costly.

Madden 27 Franchise Mode Fixes
Franchise Mode is also receiving attention in the September 3 update.
EA confirmed that the Weekly Recap is back online, while multi-user leagues should now continue to advance without issue. For players running online franchises with multiple users, the advancement fix is particularly important because affected leagues should once again be able to progress normally.
However, EA isn't finished with Franchise Mode. The company said it is continuing to work through the list of issues outlined in its previous Gridiron Notes and told players to stay tuned for additional updates.
With the NFL regular season about to kick off, the timing gives Madden 27 players a notable gameplay patch right before football takes center stage.
