Marvel's Wolverine Launch Trailer Reveals Bolivar Trask, New Sentinels

Marvel's Wolverine got a launch trailer during PlayStation's September 3 State of Play , spotlighting Bolivar Trask's anti-mutant Sentinel program ahead of the game's September 15 release on PS5.

The trailer confirmed several returning allies and villains for Logan's story, rounding out the cast just under two weeks before launch.

Bolivar Trask and the Sentinel Threat

The trailer establishes Trask as the game's primary antagonist, an industrialist who has developed a new line of Sentinels capable of detecting the mutant gene. These enemies range from human-sized fighters to massive robots players will need to climb in order to take down, giving Logan's claws plenty of scale to work through across the campaign. Trask's belief that humanity represents the pinnacle of evolution drives the mutant abductions at the center of the story.

Jean Grey returns as a key ally, using her telekinetic abilities to move objects and generate forcefields in the new footage. Mystique also appears fighting alongside Logan, motivated by growing concern over Trask's escalating threat to mutants everywhere.

Together with Team X, a group tied to Logan's past that he'd previously walked away from, the trailer positions this as a story about whether Logan can trust others again as much as it is about stopping Trask.

Familiar Villains Appear in the Trailer, Too

Beyond the Sentinels, the trailer reintroduces Sabretooth, who needles Logan over his decision to run from past conflicts, and brings in Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike as recurring threats throughout the story.

Omega Red is shown trapping and throwing Logan around in combat, while Deathstrike appears standing alongside him in at least one sequence, suggesting her allegiance may shift over the course of the game.

Marvel's Wolverine is a standalone, linear story set in the same continuity as Insomniac's Spider-Man games, though without their open-world structure. Development on the game is complete, with pre-orders live for both the standard and Digital Deluxe editions ahead of its September 15 launch.
