Millionaire Explains How Playing 'GTA 6' Could Save You $5,000 on Entertainment Costs

If you've been trying to justify buying Grand Theft Auto VI when it launches later this month, one millionaire has a pretty unusual argument that might help your case: Playing the highly anticipated video game could actually save you thousands of dollars.
That's according to British entrepreneur and financial influencer Mark Tilbury, who recently shared a video explaining why spending money on GTA 6 might be a surprisingly smart financial decision.
In the Oct. 31 video, titled " How GTA 6 Could Save You $5,000 ," Tilbury breaks down the cost of the game compared with other forms of entertainment, and his reasoning has gamers cracking up.
Tilbury starts by assuming the game costs about $100 and takes approximately 80 hours to complete. That works out to around $1.25 per hour of entertainment.
But he points out that GTA 6 isn't just about completing the main storyline. Between side missions and exploring the game's massive open world, players could potentially spend 200 hours playing, bringing the entertainment cost down to about 50 cents per hour.
And that's where his argument gets particularly interesting.
"Let's say you play for four hours every evening, that's 50 nights of entertainment," Tilbury explains.
He then compares those evenings at home to spending money going out.
"Compare that to going out, where you could easily spend $100 in a single night," he says, concluding that buying the game could save players $5,000.
Of course, there's a pretty big catch. His math assumes someone would otherwise spend $100 going out on each of those 50 nights. And even then, the actual savings would be closer to $4,900 after accounting for the game's assumed purchase price.
Still, gamers seem delighted to have a millionaire providing a financial justification for their favorite hobby.
"Finally, a financial advisor I trust," one viewer joked.
"Thanks, I'll show it to my parents," another commented.
One person took the joke even further, writing, "Say no more, I will buy four digital copies; that's $20,000 in my pocket."
Not everyone was convinced, however. Some viewers pointed out that most people aren't spending $100 going out every night, meaning the potential savings are more hypothetical than realistic.
Tilbury's video has attracted more than two million views, suggesting his unusual financial advice has struck a chord with gamers eagerly awaiting the new release.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to arrive Nov. 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Whether or not the game actually saves anyone thousands of dollars, Tilbury has certainly given fans a funny new argument for staying home and playing video games.
