Nintendo Officially Confirms New Switch 2 Price Next Month

If you're a video game enthusiast, then you've most likely seen the skyrocketing prices for consoles lately. Due to hardware shortages, consoles released years ago have slowly increased in price, and it's not slowing down. Now, Nintendo has officially confirmed the new Switch 2 price in the UK for next month.

From September 1, 2026 , the Switch 2 will sell for £419.99 on the Nintendo Store in the UK, up £24 from the £395.99 it has carried since launch, with the euro price moving from €469.99 to €499.99 at the same time.

While the jump isn't that outrageous, it still continues the theme that consoles aren't the same as they were back in the day. Before, the longer a console is on the market, the more affordable they become.

Before the price increase came to the UK, there was a change on May 8 for those in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The announcement raised the US price by $50 to $499.99 and the Canadian price by $50 to $679.99, and pegged the European increase at €30, but left the UK figure to be confirmed later by the local subsidiary.

At the time, the company said, "In light of changes in market conditions, and after considering the global business outlook, Nintendo will revise the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the Nintendo Switch 2 system and Nintendo Switch systems ."

Again, while it's still horrible to see the price only going up, this isn't the most drastic console price hike we've seen.

We've also seen major jumps in both PlayStation and Xbox , with both recently rising another $100. Most consoles have been increasing by $100 to $200, despite launching roughly 5 years ago.

This not only makes gamers question the affordability of gaming now, but also how expensive the next generation of consoles will be upon release.
