RetroSpace Sets October 1 Release Date On PC and Consoles

Kwalee and The Wild Gentlemen have set an October 1 release date for RetroSpace , their disco-punk space horror immersive sim, alongside a new gameplay trailer .
The game launches simultaneously on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Surviving Aurora 5
RetroSpace casts players as a lowly janitor turned last hope for humanity after their space station, Aurora 5, gets swallowed by a sentient black hole. Corridors now crawl with mutated animal and plant hybrids, and time itself has started slipping, tossing players between eras as they work through the station.
Aurora 5 is built as one massively interconnected, open space, with new shortcuts and secret paths opening up to previously visited areas as players explore. A mostly peaceful central HUB area gives players somewhere to retreat to when the horror gets to be too much.
Each enemy on the station behaves differently, and Kwalee and The Wild Gentlemen are framing survival as a matter of learning enemy behaviors, abilities, and weaknesses rather than relying on luck. Environmental systems like security stations factor in too, and can be turned into traps or unlikely allies depending on how players approach them.
Stealth, Mutamods, and the Cycle of Death
RetroSpace leans into immersive sim design, letting players solve problems through total avoidance, diversions, trap setting, or straightforward combat. Mutamods add another layer on top of that, unlocking mutations that boost stealth, combat, exploration, and mobility, though the developers warn they can come with unexpected and irreversible side effects.
Death is built into the loop rather than treated as a fail state. Aurora can clone players indefinitely, but each clone comes with the risk of cloning degeneration, and players are encouraged to recover gear from their previous selves along the way.
RetroSpace is developed by The Wild Gentlemen, the studio behind Chicken Police: Paint It Red! , and published by Kwalee, the UK publisher founded by Codemasters co-founder David Darling CBE and named Best Publisher at the TIGA Awards 2022.
A playable demo has been available on Steam since June for players who want a preview ahead of launch.
