Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark Is Out Now On Switch And PS4

Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark is out now on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, bringing six classic shoot 'em ups from Toaplan's Shark series west for the first time in both digital and physical editions.

The collection launched August 29 from Clear River Games and developer M2, and follows the publisher's recent Terranigma announcement and Culdcept The First re-release as part of an ongoing push into Western retro preservation.

Six Games, Built for Both Purists and Newcomers

The collection centers on Flying Shark , praised on its original release for its tightly tuned difficulty and simple rules, and its sequel Fire Shark , known for the sheer devastation of its screen-filling weapons.

Alongside the original arcade versions, the package includes Arcade Mode for players chasing an authentic experience, and a Super Easy Mode for newcomers to either the specific games or the shoot 'em up genre more broadly.

M2 Gadgets displayed on both sides of the screen help track blind spots and flag new items or hidden features as they appear, while Arcade Challenge Mode splits each stage into smaller segments for focused practice, complete with an automatic rewind feature that activates whenever a ship takes a hit during a challenge run, aimed at players chasing a one-credit clear.

A Deep Bench of Bonus Content

Digital owners get a substantial DLC library included as part of the physical release, adding NES, Sega Mega Drive, and Sega Genesis versions of the core games alongside an entirely separate title, Wardner .

Originally released in 1987, Wardner is an arcade action platformer where players use fire magic to fight through a forest and confront the boss responsible for transforming a young girl into a crystal ball.
