Until Dawn 2 Sets January 28, 2027 Release Date, Reveals Akishima Island

Firesprite and Sony confirmed during PlayStation's September 3 State of Play that the horror sequel launches January 28, 2027 on PS5, accompanied by a new trailer detailing the game's setting, cast, and choice-driven story structure for the first time.

Dead True Heads to Akishima Island

The story follows Dead True, a crew of fake ghost-hunting content creators chasing their biggest story yet. It begins with an investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium, the setting tied to the original Until Dawn , before an encounter with a supernatural survivor named Yoona leads the group to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades and hiding secrets far older than any of them realize. Peter Stormare returns as the mysterious Dr. Hill, reprising his role from the first game.

Firesprite is developing the sequel in partnership with AdHoc Studio, the team behind narrative game Dispatch , aiming for a story built around complex characters, sharp dialogue, and fraught relationships alongside the series' signature choice-driven horror. The returning Butterfly Effect system means player decisions, both large and small, continue to shape which crew members survive the night.

Pre-Orders Open September 10

Pre-orders for Until Dawn 2 open September 10, with Standard and Digital Deluxe editions confirmed, though Sony has not yet announced pricing for either. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes a Y2K Neon Vibes cosmetic pack and a Diorama of Death feature, while pre-order bonuses across both editions include Dr. Hill-themed content and bobblehead collectibles.

This marks Firesprite's first major reveal of the game's full story and setting since its original announcement , which confirmed the sequel as a standalone story with an entirely new cast rather than a direct continuation.
