There are lots of upcoming Xbox Series X/S games for 2026 (and beyond) to look forward to, and this roundup is here to help you easily keep track of everything that's ahead.

September is a massively busy month, thanks to a ton of games avoiding the GTA 6 bubble of November. And, thanks to the likes of Gamescom 2026, announcing even more titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and a new strategy game set in the Rainbow Six universe, things are constantly getting even more overwhelming as well. We also recently got some updates on some of the biggest new games coming to the console, including the Xbox exclusive , Gears of War: E-Day .

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

As someone who loves playing all the best action RPGs , I'm so excited that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is heading to consoles. In the new Xbox game, you play as the young samurai Miyamoto Musashi, who arrives in Edo-period Kyoto only to be faced with monsters from the underworld known as Genma. You'll need to slay and kill your way through enemies, and from the clips I've seen so far, you'll be doing so in gory, fantastical fashion. Sign me up.

Halloween: The Game

Halloween: The Game is a new horror sandbox multiplayer game based on the iconic 1978 movie that sees you either take on the role of Michael Myers, or as a hero of Haddonfield. With a standalone single-player story mode from Myers' perspective, Original director and writer John Carpenter is also on board as executive producer.

Mewgenics

After first releasing on PC, Mewgenics is coming to Xbox Series X this September. The tactical roguelike sees you raise your very own cat army. With different cats that have all have various strengths and traits, you can breed new felines that inherit those qualities, and maybe even get powerful mutations of them.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape is a massive name in the RPG space, and now we are getting a new open-world game from the IP this September. Coming to the Xbox Series X/S, RuneScape: Dragonwilds lets you explore the continent of Ashenfall, with friends or solo (it depends on what you prefer). This is a RuneScape game, so of course you will need to build up your skills in order to come out on top, and if you want any hope of surviving the Dragon Queen. This game will also be on Game Pass, so it's a great one for you and a bunch of friends to try out together if you want to test the waters as well.

Train Sim World 7

Train Sim World 7 is an upcoming Xbox game that will let you live out your locomotive dreams in style. From the trailers, the visuals look stunning here, which is a massive bonus if you are looking to relax by watching trains pass by or get immersed in the title's train driver career as well. You can play the game five days early if you pick up the Deluxe edition. But before you reach for your wallet, the developers have disclosed that they used AI to generate some voice-over elements. Luckily, all the scripts were written by Dovetail Games staff.

Aniimo

Endless Legend 2 is officially leaving Early Access this September, and if you love 4X strategy games, you will want to check this one out. Set in a fantasy world, you will have to try and dominate an ever-evolving map in order to win. The early access release was very popular last year and is currently still available on Game Pass if you want to check it out. It's unclear if the full release will remain on Game Pass, but I'll let you know as soon as I hear any news.

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival

As big fans of The Walking Dead, the GamesRadar+ team is very excited to get our hands on the upcoming Xbox game, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival. This is a 2D arcade beat-em-up title that has you stepping into the shoes of the franchise's most iconic survivors (looking at you, Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon). It's up to you to kill some zombies, having to face hordes, boss fights, and some more challenges along the way as well.

Dune: Awakening

Graveyard Keeper 2

If you are a cozy gamer, chances are you know Graveyard Keeper. Well, the good news is that Graveyard Keeper 2 is on its way, and it's heading to Xbox. In this sequel, you are back managing a medieval graveyard; however, this time you are also the Grand Inquisitor. What is more, there is an undead army threatening you, and you'll need to build up your own zombie forces to fight back while also rebuilding the town. Graveyard Keeper sounds like a blast (albeit a bit more stressful than the first game), and I'll be picking it up for sure.

Well Dweller

Well Dweller is the perfect blend between eerie and cute and has fast become one of my most anticipated New Xbox games for the month. In this Metroidvania, you control an adorable bird armed with a matchstick who is on a quest to burn the evil queen and save his family. You will need to fight giant bosses, solve puzzles, and discover a bunch of secrets along the way. If you loved Silksong, I'd say keep an eye on this one, folks.

Control Resonant

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered

Rayman Legends Retold

As a big horror fan, I'm super excited about the new Xbox game, Silver Pines. This is a survival horror Metroidvania where you take on the role of Private investigator Red Walker, who finds himself in the titular town. A musician has vanished, and you'll need to discover what has happened while also trying to stay sane as nightmares descend. I love the look and the premise of this title already, so I expect big things from it.

Planet Zoo 2

Planet Zoo is offically getting a follow-up in Planet Zoo 2. In this management simulator, you'll build up zoos across the world, caring for animals by crafting amazing enclosures and habitats. You'll also get to release animals into Wildlife Reserves.

Valor Mortis

Valor Mortis is a first-person action soulslike where you play as a fallen soldier risen from Napoleon's army. You'll have to engage in some old fashioned military scraps paired with supernatural enemies and powers as you make your way through a pretty gory-looking story. I love the look of this one, and am very happy we are getting it just before spooky season hits this year.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Set in a medieval Paris in 1499, you play as vampire killer Trevor Bellmont's successor who takes to the streets to fight back against the beasts that have overrun the city. Final Fantasy Resonance

The first HD-2D game in the Final Fantasy series is coming to Xbox. Final Fantasy Resonance is the adaptation of the 2015 title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius's first story arc, and from trailers, it looks great already. Keep in mind that this upcoming RPG has got turn-based combat, so if you aren't a fan of that, stay clear.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

This is one of my personal favorite detective games as you take on the role of the detective Bigby Wolf and solve crimes in Fabletown. Your choices can decide others' fates as well as how you are treated. It's a gritty and brilliantly written Noir that I highly recommend for all Xbox owners.

GTA 6

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

There are No Ghosts at the Grand

Stranger Than Heaven

Although this was originally meant to release in 2026, it's a nice way to start the new year. Stranger Than Heaven is an upcoming action-adventure that is set across five different eras and cities. You follow the journey of Makoto Daito, who, after losing both of his parents, decides to make a life for himself in Japan. It's very Yakuza-coded (as to be expected), and the good news is that you can preorder it now too.

Metro 2039

Metro 2039 is the next entry in the FPS series that will take you into a post-apocalyptic Moscow. Taking on the role of a voiced protagonist known as "The Stranger", it promises to deliver the "most shocking" Metro adventure so far, with elements of stealth, survival, and exploration.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Persona 4 Revival

Fable 4

The Fable reboot sees the series' trademark British, tongue-in-cheek humor return, along with a refreshing spin on morality, over 1,000 NPCs , and a customizable hero. Gundam Rogue Orbit

Gundam Rogue Orbit is one for all my sci-fi lovers out there. Set to come our way in 2027, this new Xbox title from Bandai Namco will let players pilot their own mechs as they fight for survival. According to the press release for the game, we'll see the story introduce "a brand-new timeline in the Gundam saga, where humanity must fight for survival against an unknown threat." It all sounds very cool, and I'm excited to feel like the star in my very own action movie once it releases.

Exodus

Exodus is a new sci-fi RPG from a studio made up of veteran talent who previously worked at BioWare on the likes of Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate 2, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Taking on the role of customizable protagonist Jun Aslan, you set out to try and fight for the future of your homeworld. But with time dilation coming into play, your choices will make an impact in different and unexpected ways.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is finally wrapping up in 2027 with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation , which will be releasing on Xbox at launch for the first time alongside other platforms. Crazy Taxi: World Tour

ILL

ILL looks disgustingly terrifying, and I mean that as a high compliment considering it's an upcoming horror game . Developed by Team Clout inc its a first-person action survival horror that will have you following a story set at a huge research fort. Trouble is, said fort is packed with some monstrosities, and they aren't exactly friendly. Even as a horror fanatic and horror movie snob, seeing some of the creations in ILL's trailers made me feel ill. So, needless to say, I'm very excited for this one. Hopefully we get a firm release date soon.

A little bit BioShock, a little bit Dishonored, and a lot of hellishly magical FPS action awaits in Magicians: The Devil's Deal. The announcement trailer treats us to a steampunk gothic world as our player character uses any means necessary to fend off the devil's minions (after a nice little shadow puppet show, of course). I'm already intrigued by its gorgeous art style and inventive combat, so the fact that it's coming in 2027 is just an added bonus.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

I can't believe that it's real but we are getting a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, and it's coming to Xbox in 2027. Announced during the Summer Game Fest 2026 Live showcase, the trailer showed us Claire Redfield entering a wrecked Parisian apartment through her first-person perspective – the very place her brother, Chris, was last seen before the events of Code Veronica. The survival horror spin-off is considered one of the best Resident Evil games , so it's going to be a 2027 must-play!

Senua

Senua is the third game in the Hellblade series, and I'm very excited to get my hands on it come 2027. Revealed during Xbox Games Showcase, we got to see Senua back in action, slaying enemies and being covered by a strange golden liquid. It's all very intriguing, and knowing the previous games, we are betting that we'll have a killer story too. Stay tuned as we wait for more details on this one!

Spyro: A Realm Beyond

From the brief look that we have had already, Wo Long 2 is looking fantastical and action packed, hopefully we get a release date soon.

Atomic Heart 2

Ex-Naughty Dog devs at new studio That's No Moon are giving us this new third-person action game, and from what we've seen from the announcement trailer, it looks like a tense tactical affair. The teaser introduces us to a strange sci-fi world where two army operatives must work together to ensure their survival. Crossfire will also feature a new mechanic called "adaptive cover", where the protagonist will change her stance to keep out of the enemy's sight.

Gen Atlas

Get ready, folks, because Fumito Ueda, the creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, is bringing us a new game. Gen Atlas looks stunning and I've been hooked on it ever since it was shown during the Summer Game Fest Live 2026 showcase. It's a single-player action-adventure game set in an open world, with you awakening on an abandoned planet where you're met with colossal structures and strange remnants that cover the surface. Sound very mysterious!

John Wick

The as yet untitled Joh Wick game was officially revealed during the PlayStation State of Play in February 2026, and it's set to come to Xbox Series X. Made in collaboration with Lionsgate and the movie franchise directors, we can expect stylish gun-fu action, car sequences, and more. It's still early days, but we can't wait to learn more!

Jurassic Park: Survival

Mighty Cuphead Adventure

I can't believe this, but sicko rejoice because a new Cuphead game is on the way. Announced during Summer Game Fest Live, Mighty Cuphead Adventure is a new 8-bit action platformer that takes direct inspiration from the 1980's by using tech of the era to bring it to life. We don't know much about the story or bosses in this one yet, but it's likely to be just as brutal and fun as the first Cuphead outing, so we are already excited about it.

The long-rumored Xbox game from Hideo Kojima, OD "explores the concept of testing your fear threshold," according to the announcement, as well as "what it means to OD on fear."
