Venator is Now Playable in Deadlock
Venator has won the most recent community hero vote of Deadlock's Old Gods, New Blood update and is now playable. His announcement post on Deadlock's Steam Page shared some lore about the latest character to participate in New York's ritual:
"Venator doesn't walk the righteous path, he blazes the trail so that others may do so safely. His biggest challenge is knowing which weapon to use first. Firing a Consecrating Grenade into the fray softens up his enemies and keeps them from restoring health, and his Hex-Lined Snap Trap scatters across the ground to lock them in place. A Gutshot from his shotgun will knock back enemies who get too close, and when the time is right, Ira Domini will rid the world of evil once and for all. - "Today, nine commandments will have to do." "
Based on his lore, Venator is a priest sent by the church to deal with the evil in New York. It appears that Venator isn't actually his name, but the title of the combat-based holy order that he's part of. In combat, he uses a variety of weapons to fight against the supernatural forces that are participating in the ritual. His arsenal includes a submachine gun, a shotgun, consecrated grenades, and snap traps to debilitate and lock down his foes. Additionally, he also uses a crossbow to fire blessed stakes to completely finish off the evil that he fights against.
With Venator's release, there are now only two more heroes left to vote for: Apollo and Celeste. Players can earn votes by playing the game and cast their votes in-game. The winner of the next vote will be announced on Monday, February 9, at 2pm PST.
