Watch Star Trek Voyager travel Across the Unknown in epic game trailer
Watch the Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown trailer now.
Trekkies can relive the iconic adventures of Captain Janeway and her crew in the upcoming video game Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown . Incredible demos have already paved the way for the project's release, which includes the voice talents of both Voyager alums Tim Russ and Robert Duncan McNeill, who reprise their roles as Tuvok and Tom Paris respectively. The CEO and founder of gameXcite, Patrick Streppel, spoke about their inclusion in the project via a new interview with TrekMovie.com . He said:
"We are extremely happy that we got Tim Russ and Robert Duncan McNeill to reprise their roles as Tuvok and Tom Paris for our game, reading their personal logs at the beginning of each sector. While some might have hoped for a full [voice over], we feel that these logs not only add a lot of nostalgia but also important background to the setup of each sector. As you can imagine, Tuvok and Paris have very different ways to tell the story and uniquely react to the player's decisions." (Continued on page 2...)
Across the Unknown will also include Voyager's original theme
In addition to the beloved Vulcan Tuvok and Tom Paris returning to the Delta Quadrant, with the rest of USS Voyager's stranded crew, gameXcite was able to license Star Trek: Voyager's original musical theme, so this will add yet another layer of nostalgia to the wonderfully crafted gameplay. However, the sound effects were not pulled right from the classic television series, so designers had to work extremely hard to recreate them for the upcoming game.
GameXcite CEO and founder Patrick Streppel even laid out an Easter-egg heavy scenario, which includes one of the show's most controversial characters: Tuvix! He said in the same interview : "The shortcut home in 'Caretaker' [ Voyager S1, E2] is somewhat of an Easter Egg and at some point we even considered Janeway to wake up from a dream if you choose this option... but of course that would have reduced the weight of the decision."
"The campaign follows the story of the show through 12 sectors and while the main plot, the route they take to Earth (including the 'jumps' in between), remains largely the same, there are a lot of 'what if' scenarios that are different based on player decisions," Streppel explained. "This ranges from how plot points get resolved to entire side missions missing if the characters at the center are no longer with you. So yes, if Tuvok is not alive, there is no way to get to Tuvix."
I'm a huge fan of the classic Star Trek series, particularly when Jeri Ryan joined the show's fourth season as Seven of Nine. Now that the final trailer is here, are you as excited as I am to command the USS Voyager in the upcoming video game? Well, if the answer is yes, you won't have to wait much longer. Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown drops on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and it will be available on the following platforms:
