Nintendo To Offer Pair of 'Switch 2' Bundles This Fall

Nintendo announced this week that a pair of hardware/software bundles will be available after the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 goes up, but only one of them is truly new.

Popular sports game getting an upgrade

Nintendo dropped an announcement Tuesday that was a bit odd.

"Two New Nintendo Switch 2 Bundles Deliver Sun-Soaked Sports, High-Speed Thrills and Extra Value," read the title of the press release , but in reality only one of them is new.

That would be the Nintendo Sports Resort bundle coming Oct. 22.

The bundle will feature the updated Nintendo Sports Resort game for the Switch 2, a sequel to the wildly popular version for the original Switch, and three free months of Nintendo Switch Online.

This version of the game will include 12 different sports:

• Tennis

• Bowling

• Prop plane

• Power cruising

• Boxing

• Archery

• Thumb wrestling

• Skateboarding

• Volleyball

• Table tennis

• Basketball

• Golf

The suggested retail price will be $529.99, which means saving $27.98 compared to buying a system and the game separately, along with three months of NSO ($7.99).

What's old is new again (and more expensive)

The other part of the press release revealed a Mario Kart World Bundle will be available in late September.

That will include a system, a game code, and 90 free days of access to Nintendo Switch Online, but it's also not new.

The same bundle already existed at a lower price point.

What gives? Well the price of the console is going up to $499.99 on Sept. 1.

That was announced a while ago, but this week's release confirms the bundle will be back when the console gets its new price.

In a way, that also means it's still news you can use — as a reminder that now is the time to buy a Switch 2 while it can still be had for $449.99.

And because of that, it's still possible to get the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World for a combined $529.98 as opposed to paying $549.

You're still saving even if you also pay for the three-month deal for Nintendo Switch Online, and there is one more thing to keep in mind.

While other gaming systems sometimes see a price reduction on or around Black Friday in November, Nintendo rarely, if ever, drops the price of its hardware — even before the current market pressures that are driving up the regular price anyway — so a better deal than the ones in this story might not come along any time soon.
