Amazon is ending support for older Kindles in May and users are furious
Amazon notified Kindle users this week that the company will be terminating support for any devices released in 2012 or earlier starting on May 20, according to WIRED .
As soon as the email went out, customers reacted with fury and fear that the devices they have used for years are being forced into obsolescence.
Here are some of the reactions Kindle users had to Amazon's announcement.

Many of these Kindle loyalists expressed disappointment that some of these older models would no longer have access to the Kindle store or some of the features they were used to that made the experience similar to reading a book.
"I'm so upset…," one user posted on X .
"My Kindle is fifteen years old. It still works fine, and I want no other. I read a lot, and this is the only e-reader that doesn't hurt my eyes. None of the new models have a screen that so perfectly mimics paper. And now Amazon is forcing me to buy a new one," the reader added.
"This is terrible, but it's also very funny to me that they made a product that works too well.," another user on X posted . "The Kindle is still working fine 15 years later, which means you don't need to buy a replacement from them."
Others had some more choice words for Amazon, calling the company's planned obsolescence strategy "predatory capitalism."
"It's one thing to say older devices don't support some new feature or service or operating system," a third user on X posted . "But to make the deliberate choice to brick a device that's working perfectly well, in order to force your customer to buy a new one, is a hostile act of predatory capitalism."
