Company launches $47,000 pods to help survive natural disasters

A company has unveiled survival pods designed to help families survive earthquakes , floods and gun attacks.
Called Lifepods, the range of shelters is portable and can be airlifted or carried by tsunami waters.
French start-up Momentum Technologies says two models are available, each "designed to provide an immediate refuge when conventional infrastructure becomes inoperative."
The B-01 is a multi-hazard land capsule for ballistic threats, explosions and fires, while the W-01 is a floating capsule offering protection in flooding, submersion, tsunamis or climate disasters.
The Lifepods are described as self-sufficient shelters, combining several layers of protection with on-board survival systems.
Unlike traditional fixed shelters, the capsules are mobile, stackable and able to be rapidly deployed in urban areas, on industrial sites or in remote environments.

Cédric Choffat, CEO of Momentum Technologies, said: "The market is confirming the strategic interest in our next-generation resilience solutions. Our objective is now to accelerate industrialization, certifications and the commercial deployment of our capsules."
The Lifepods are listed as ranging in price from $34,223 to $47,015 for the capsule alone.
The company plans to open its next funding round for shelter development between late 2026 and early 2027.
