“Cutting-edge” training coming to Wallace Community College with state grant

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Wallace Community College has been awarded a Workforce Development grant to develop a new information technology training platform for students.

The grant, totaling $380,266, will fund the development of the "Cyber Range and beyond" program.

According to WCCD, Cyber Range will replicate real-world IT environments and offer students an immersive training experience in cybersecurity, cyber defense, and network management. The program will utilize simulations and hands-on experience.

"This funding from Alabama Community College System (ACCS) will allow us to significantly expand our efforts in preparing students for the future of work in IT and cybersecurity," said Martha Compton, WCCD Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education. "The Cyber Range will provide students with the practical, hands-on experience needed to be competitive in today's job market, and it will also ensure that our graduates possess nationally recognized certifications that are essential in the industry."

This program will help students prepare for careers as Cybersecurity Specialists, Software Developers, Computer Systems Analysts, Information Security Analysts, Database Administrators, and more.
