Ethereum Network Prepares For Major Rebuild
Ethereum (CRYPTO: $ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has announced a new multi-year plan to rebuild nearly every major part of the cryptocurrency's network.
Buterin is calling the rebuild "Lean Ethereum" and says it will be the biggest update and change to the ETH network since the 2022 "Merge" that switched the network from mining to a stake-based system.
The ambitious new plan is a technical framework for the network's next decade, built around superior cryptography and security.

Of particular importance is safeguarding Ethereum from future quantum computer attacks.
Concerns are rising that a powerful quantum computer could break the cryptography that secures blockchains, a risk the industry increasingly treats as critical to addressing.
Enhancing the privacy of blockchain networks is also a "first-class goal," according to Buterin.
Buterin also highlighted a large capacity increase with the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade to the Ethereum network. He said the fork after it, Hegotá, is likely to be the last before the Lean Ethereum era begins.
Given all the proposed changes and upgrades, the Lean Ethereum era is likely years away, acknowledges Buterin.
ETH is currently trading at $1,791 U.S., having gained more than 10% in the past week.
