Oppo Set to Launch Thinnest Foldable Phone in 2 Weeks
Oppo is preparing to unveil its new foldable phone, the Find N5, which the company claims will be the world's thinnest foldable device. Zhou Yibao, product manager of the Oppo Find series, announced on Weibo that the launch is scheduled for approximately two weeks from now, likely around February 19 or 20.
The Find N5 is to be just 4mm thick when unfolded, which could make it the thinnest foldable on the market, 27% slimmer than the rumored iPhone 17 Air. It also comes with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance ratings, a first for foldable devices.
It will reportedly come with 50W wireless charging capability and a larger battery than its predecessor, despite the thinner design, as reported by Android Police.
Unlike its predecessor, the Find N5 will be released globally, which means it will expand beyond the Chinese market. However, in the United States, it is expected to be marketed as the OnePlus Open 2 .
Pete Lau, Oppo's Chief Product Officer, revealed that the company had achieved a 31.4% reduction in motherboard size through the use of new materials, which allows for more internal space.
Its combination of a slim profile and advanced features could set a new standard in the foldable smartphone market.
