Alcons Audio Packs Eight 18-Inch Subs Into Its CEDIA 2026 Sound Room

Alcons Audio is heading to CEDIA Expo 2026 with its latest Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience, this time built around a complete 11.8.6-channel system inside Sound Room SR9 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The demo will run throughout the show from September 2 through September 4 and will also mark the first public showing of a new speaker from the company.
At the front of the room, Alcons is using three CRMSQ pro-ribbon line-source arrays for the left, center, and right channels. Each channel combines two CRMSQ modules with one CRMSQB low-frequency extension module. The idea is to bring the same directivity and output capability uses in its larger systems into a private cinema environment.
The surround and height layers are handled by 14 CRMSC-SRHV compact pro-ribbon reference speakers. Because they use the same core mid/high-frequency transducer technology as the front channels, Alcons is aiming for consistency throughout the room.
Low frequencies are handled by eight CRMS-LFE18 18-inch reference subwoofers. Those will be used alongside Trinnov's Double Bass Array processing, with the system designed to extend below 10Hz while keeping bass response consistent across the seating area.
Power and loudspeaker management come from Alcons Sentinel10 and Director6 amplified loudspeaker controllers. These handle amplification and dedicated speaker processing while also using Alcons' Signal Integrity Sensing system to monitor the signal path and maintain control over the system.
CEDIA will also be the first showing of the new IRP24, an ultra-shallow in-wall pro-ribbon loudspeaker aimed at residential installations. Alcons has not provided a full specs yet, but its inclusion in the demo gives attendees an early look.
The rest of the room brings together several familiar home theater brands. A Trinnov Altitude32 handles audio processing with digital AES3 connections running between the processor and Alcons' amplified loudspeaker controllers.
Christie is providing the projector with a Griffyn 4K35-RGB pure-laser model. It uses native 4K imaging and is rated for 36,500 lumens. Kaleidescape will supply the movie content, while Lumagen handles video processing.
The image will be projected onto a DreamScreen X1 screen. DreamScreen has worked with Alcons on previous demos, and the X1 is designed to maintain image quality while minimizing the acoustic impact of placing the front speakers behind the screen. Poes Acoustics is responsible for the overall room design and optimization.
