LG Sound Suite Gains DTS:X and Google Cast Support

LG is expanding its premium Sound Suite home theater system with DTS:X support, Google Cast streaming, dual subwoofer compatibility and more flexible Wi-Fi configurations, all rolling out in response to customer feedback. The company also teased a forthcoming "Media Connect Hub" for DTS:X source devices, a product it says is still in development.
Sound Suite is a modular system that lets buyers choose select speakers à la carte, place them where they want and use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology to tune their performance to the room. The centerpiece of that setup is the H7 soundbar. Most of the headline additions target it directly.
Chief among the updates is DTS:X on the H7 soundbar, a new feature that adds surround sound options. LG said the format will give "home theater enthusiasts additional ways to enjoy immersive, multi-dimensional audio from compatible content and source devices." The H7 also gains Google Cast, allowing users to stream music, podcasts and other content directly to Sound Suite systems.
On the networking side, Sound Suite now supports Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels. According to LG, the broader wireless compatibility opens up more stereo and multi-speaker arrangements across the system. Those chasing more low-end output can now run dual W7 subwoofer setups.
The teased Media Connect Hub is the least defined piece of the announcement. LG said it will enable DTS:X "from compatible external source devices and further expand access to DTS:X content," without detailing which devices qualify or when the hub will arrive. The description leaves open how source devices such as Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD disc players would connect, and LG has not confirmed those specifics.
The new software has already begun reaching select markets, though rollout timelines and availability differ by region. LG positions Sound Suite as a premium offering. These additions deepen its appeal for buyers who can afford to build out a configurable multi-speaker system.
