Galaxy S26’s Rumored 24MP Mode Promises Sharper Photos Without Lag or Artifacts
Samsung will add a new 24MP shooting mode to the Galaxy S26 series that avoids quality problems seen in competing implementations, according to leaker Ice Universe . The new mode processes pictures in about three seconds and delivers significantly higher image quality than standard 12MP snaps.
Users must enable the feature in the Camera Assistant app, after which they can toggle it directly in the default camera app. This differs from the Expert RAW app's 24MP toggle, Android Headlines reports ; that option requires a separate download and is typically used by professionals. The S26's 24MP mode specifically avoids current issues like over-sharpening and purple fringing that have affected similar features from competitors.
Ice Universe claims the final picture is "clearly better" than the regular 12MP mode. Processing occurs in the background, and there is no lag when pressing the shutter key.
The new mode is intended to provide users with more effective camera options. It aligns with reports that Samsung is considering reintroducing variable aperture on the Galaxy S26 Ultra; this feature was last seen on the Galaxy S9 series.
