iPhone 17 Air’s 2,800mAh Battery Is About Half as Thick as iPhone 17 Pro’s: Leak

Recent leaks out of Korea and China claim to share the probable battery specs of Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro models. The iPhone 17 Air's internal battery is reported to be just 2.49mm—about half as thick as the battery used in the iPhone 17 Pro. This ultra-thin design could help Apple create its slimmest iPhone yet, with the device said to be about 5.5mm thick overall.

According to some Chinese sources, the battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Air is around 2,800mAh. No reliable information has been confirmed regarding the iPhone 17 Pro's battery, but the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to have a battery capacity above 5,000mAh—the largest ever found in an iPhone.

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have new silicon-anode batteries. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says this will be a "high-density" battery. Reports about real-world battery life are mixed, with Wayne Ma from The Information reporting that only 60% to 70% of users will be able to use the iPhone 17 Air for a full day without a recharge.

In comparison, that figure is usually 80% to 90% for other iPhones. But Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says hardware and software improvements could give performance on par with current models, as reported by Mac Rumors.
