Motorola Razr 2026 Specs vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Budget Flip Phone Fight

Nicole Lee

Motorola and Samsung have gone toe-to-toe over the years in the clamshell foldable space, releasing annual versions of their respective Razr and Z Flip phones to appeal to fans of pocketable folding phones.

Motorola's Razr flip phone for 2026 has several upgrades over its predecessor, despite looking largely identical. It has a new processor, a larger battery, and a new 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (the 2025 version only had a 13-megapixel ultrawide). Despite a $100 price hike over last year's model , it's still the most affordable Razr in the 2026 lineup, with a starting price of $800 for 128GB of storage.

The other big player in the flip phone space is Samsung, and its budget foldable is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE . It's priced slightly higher at $900, and specs-wise, it doesn't quite win out over the Razr 2026. But the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is really meant for those looking for a Samsung flip phone who don't want to cough up the extra cash for the  $1,100 Galaxy Z Flip 7 . We should also note that the Galaxy Flip 7 FE debuted a year ago, and a yet-to-be-announced 2026 version could be announced in the coming months with better specs.

Here's a closer look at the spec rundown of the Motorola Razr 2026 versus the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

Design and display

Like last year's model, the Razr 2026 has a 3.6-inch OLED cover display and a 6.9-inch OLED main display. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, however, has a 3.4-inch OLED cover screen and a 6.7-inch OLED main display. Motorola takes full advantage of that screen by embedding the two rear cameras directly into it. The Z Flip 7 FE has Samsung's older file-folder tab cutout design, which eats up some usable screen real estate.

The Razr 2026 also has a slightly smoother cover display with a 90Hz refresh rate compared to the 60Hz on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The main displays on both phones have a 120Hz refresh rate.

Color-wise, the Razr 2026 wins handily. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is only available in black and white, while the Razr 2026 comes in four Pantone colors: a mineral-speckled hematite, violet ice, sporting green and bright white. Both phones weigh around the same at 188 grams (Razr 2026) and 187 grams (Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE).

Cameras

The Motorola Razr 2026 has a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera and a new 50-megapixel ultrawide.

The Razr 2026 got a big upgrade this year with a new 50-megapixel ultrawide camera matching the resolution of the 5-megapixel wide-angle camera; last year's 2025 Razr only had a 13-megapixel ultrawide. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE also has a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera but just a 12-megapixel ultrawide.

As for front-facing cameras on the inner screens, the Razr 2026 has a 32-megapixel selfie cam, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE's version is just 10 megapixels.

Battery and performance

Another improvement the Razr 2026 has over its predecessor is a larger battery capacity. The 2026 Razr has a 4,800-mAh battery, while the 2025 version has a smaller 4,500-mAh battery. I should note that Motorola is using silicon-carbon batteries in all of its 2026 models, which adds more capacity without taking up additional space. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has a smaller battery, however, at just 4,000 mAh.

The Razr 2026 has 30-watt wired charging, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE supports 25-watt wired charging. And both phones support 15-watt wireless charging.

Both phones also have 8GB of RAM and a starting built-in storage of 128GB. As for power, the Razr 2026 ships with an improved MediaTek Dimensity 7450X processor (last year's 2025 Razr had the previous MediaTek Dimensity 7400X) while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is powered by the company's Exynos 2400 chipset.
